Georgia is surrounded in the north and south by Caucasian mountain ranges with its snowed-topped peaks. Between those two mountain ranges, the plains extend towards the Black Sea in the west.

The Black Sea coast has been for a long time considered as a very nice place to live, thanks to the pleasant climate and sand beaches. However, the insecurity has made the destination a lot less attractive.

The fauna and flora

From the pelicans to eagles, Georgia has extremely diverse ornithological fauna. Those who like observing birds will enjoy Georgia. The country is also rich in various types of mushrooms.

Arts and culture

Other than the cuisine, music and dance are also important components of Georgian culture.

Georgia is a country that is rich in cultural and historical heritage and is home to plenty of original and interesting monuments. You can discover round structures with cone-shaped or flat roofs. Go on a tour of the old caves that were once inhabited but also of the caves near Gori, which have been turned into lodgings and public buildings.
There are many monasteries and churches in Georgia that show off the exceptional architecture of the Middle Ages. The churches are rife with frescoes that teach visitors about historical figures.
The region of Javakheti is home to one of the most majestic sites in all of Georgia: the Khertvisi Fortress. As for Mtskheta, the ancient capital of the kingdom of Georgia, its historical monuments have been placed on UNESCO's List of World Heritage in Danger.
