Tegucigalpa, "the silver island", is located 3280 feet in altitude. It is a loud and lively town where it is pleasant to spend a couple of days. The heart of town is situated around the cathedral, a monument from the 18th century containing a few treasures of baroque art. Opposite, you cross the central park while at the same time admiring the former Paraninfo university (today a modern art museum) and the legislative palace. The best restaurants are located in the centre of town, while in the ComayagŁela neighbourhood, you will find very cheap Chinese restaurants. At night, all the action occurs near the Morazan Boulevard and Jean-Paul II avenue.
