The Anjajavy hotel is the only Relais et Châteaux hotel in Madagascar, the one site that represents the only reason to go in Madagascar. In fact, it offers the possibility to discover an extraordinary heritage representing the richness of the same Malagasy territory - with its fauna, flora and "tsingy"s.

    Location 7.25 /10

The Anjajavy hotel is located in the heart of Anjajavy reserve, about 1hour 30 minutes (435 miles) by plane, 30 minutes from Majenga (75 miles), 50 minutes from Nosy Be (100 miles) by boat 15 minutes from Anjajavy (2.5 miles) and 5 minutes from Ambundro Ampasy, a small village 1 mile away. The Marina's beach where you can practice water sports is located 2,950 feet (2 minutes by 4 x 4).

    Accommodation 9.45 /10

25 rosewood bungalows, tastefully decorated, are arranged on the front of the beach, connected to each other by wooden walkways. All have 2 levels. On the ground level, you will find a large mosquito netted bed, a lounge area and an area where you can have breakfast. A sundeck has a hammock, two beach chairs, and a small table. The masseuse brings his massage table and sets you up here. The massages are rather nice. You will have a view of the ocean and the stunning appearance of the place. On the first level, there are two separate beds. There are also baby beds with mosquito net available. The amenities include a mini-bar, internal telephone, adjustable air-conditioning. The bathrooms are spacious, with a large bathtub, complimentary products and a hair-dryer. The toilets are separate. Room-service is available during the day and in the evening.

    Overview 8.95 /10

Built in 1999, the hotel offers high-quality services worthy of a Relais et Châteaux hotel. Here you are welcomed in a large chalet which hosts the reception (with Internet access and Internet by telephone), the restaurant and the bar. When you come out of the chalet, you can see the bungalows, all made of rosewood, in a large lawn punctuated by palm trees, the pool, its solarium and the beach. The originality of the hotel lies in the ''Oasis'' garden, conceived by Camille Muller, a famous Parisian landscape architect, who designed it with a rare aesthetic flair utilising only varieties of plants found in Madagascar. Water plants, papyrus, tree ferns, climbing plants and various palm trees are the havens of hummingbirds, Malagasy kingfishers, Madagascar foudy and even Drongo... This garden is an unique place of life, that feels fresh even at the warmest time during the day, thanks to its networks.

    Food and drink 8.20 /10

The restaurant is located in the main chalet. It has a rosewood sundeck that overlooks the lawn area, the pool and the sea. The tables are well set up, but, you would expect more from the decor and especially from the cuisine, definitely very delicious but not as varied as one would expect from a Relais et Châteaux hotel. The wines offered are South-African, Malagasy, French and Australian. The restaurant also offers different varieties of coffee, cockails and cigars. The bar is open all day long up to late in the evening.

    Beach 7.70 /10

The hotel's beach is adequate. It has beach chairs, but you should wait for high tide to swim so you won't be disturbed by the rocks on the edge of the sea. In return, the Marina's beach, located 2,950 feet away, is nicer. You can also practice water sports such as diving, snorkeling, fishing, planche windsurfing, kayaking, water skiing, wake-boarding and cataraman.
