First opened in the late 80s, the hotel is the first of the Vila Galé. Although renovations are ongoing, the hotel décor is dated and drab although clean and the large bulky concrete structure isn't the most inviting for a holiday.
In terms of facilities, there is a games room with video games (all at an extra charge) on the basement floor along with a small shop selling essentials, the hotel restaurant and the health club (see spa section below). The games room has no windows and low ceilings and it doesn't look like the healthiest of places to let your children run wild, especially when the weather and gardens are so beautiful. On the ground floor is the hotel reception, a lobby bar lining the back wall as well as a small stage to the right, where evening entertainment takes place; dancing, snake and parrot shows and karaoke.
The garden has a white bean-shaped swimming pool and a small round pool for children, shaded by a magnificent pine tree; there is also an artificial river with several decorative pools. There is a playground for children but it is fully exposed to the sun. In terms of other facilities, wireless internet was being installed, which is going to be free but for the moment there are two computer terminals with internet in the lobby for guests to use.
In the summer, there is music around the pool as well as various types of entertainment like exercise classes and games for people of all ages.
