The modern and luxurious Avala Resort stands just at the foot of the old town of Budva and is best-suited to business travellers and other jet set clientele. That is not to say that families aren't welcome, but they probably won't find what they're looking for in a holiday since there is nothing here designed to appeal to families. What you will have, though, is a choice between guest rooms and villas!

Location
9.0/10
Located just before the entrance to the old town of Budva, Montenegro's most famous seaside resort, attracting 70% foreign tourists. Transfer time from Podgorica airport is around an hour and a half by car, with Dubrovnik airport around the same distance away.
Accommodation
8.45/10
Just like the rest of the hotel, the small guest rooms are smart and modern, with a wide bed, dark wooden furniture and many original light fittings, all making for very comfortable surroundings. The only thing lacking is the space! The bathrooms, too, are smart and come with a stylish bathtub and washbasin, but if you prefer a shower, fear not, as there is a wide, partially glass-enclosed shower overlooking the bedroom which can accommodate more than one person. No doubt the ladies will appreciate the large wardrobe in the hallway, as well as the bathrobes and powerful hair-dryer provided, whilst the gentlemen will be kept busy with the flat-screen television and the mini-bar, particularly on match nights! Last but not least, why not share a special moment with a loved one on your small but well-furnished balcony facing the sea....or not, as the case may be!
Overview
8.45/10
The split-level hotel is built in front of the battlements of the old town of Budva, overlooking the town itself, and is surrounded by two beaches. The hotel consists of an imposing semi-modern, semi-stone building and doesn't exactly blend in with its surroundings, though it certainly stands out, and design and open space are clearly the order of the day here. As far as entertainment is concerned, the hotel boasts a wonderful indoor swimming pool so guests can enjoy a dip at any time of the year. However, during the summer months, the sea or the outdoor pools offer splendid sea views and are a more pleasant alternative. The hotel is built on split levels, but fortunately for those who tire easily, an escalator has been installed to take you up to the main restaurant. When you see the views over the town you'll realise it's definitely worth the effort!
Food and drink
8.20/10
For the time being, until its new waterside restaurant opens, the hotel has only one restaurant, located at the top end of the hotel, and although there are a few steps leading up to it, there is also an escalator you can use. Once you've reached the restaurant, you'll come to a beautiful room surrounded by picture windows affording superb views across the town. In terms of the cuisine on offer here - that is, after all, why you've come - you may be a little disappointed to find you are expected to serve yourself from a buffet, not necessarily what you might expect of such a smart hotel. All three meals are served here, and you're better offer keeping your eyes on the spectacular views than on the basic food on your plate. The only opportunity you will have to sample some really good cuisine is out-of-season, when meals are prepared to order from a menu. Breakfast was a little disappointing, too, as there were no pastries, the coffee was very average and there was no fresh orange juice.
Beach
7.95/10
There are two small beaches just below the hotel, one of which was in the process of being developed when we visited, the other a public beach that appears to get pretty crowded during the summer months. The sand isn't the finest you will have seen, but the sea is a wonderful turquoise blue, and the hotel even provides parasols, deck chairs and towels for its guests' convenience.
To know
Unlike many hotels on the Cretan coast, this hotel is open all year round. Construction was underway when we visited and a large stone building was in the process of being completed, designed to house a new restaurant overlooking the beach, a series of Junior Suites, a casino and a disco.

Disavantages
Ses nombreux escaliers à monter.
Sa restauration sans grande variété locale.
This is a nice hotel if you like large and rather impersonal establishments. The interior decorating, level of comfort, location, and spa in particular, all live up to the hotel's 5 stars. However, this doesn't extend to the cuisine, which shows much room for improvement! No one is perfect though!
Now here is a 4 star hotel worthy of its rating! With so few of them about, this is something worth applauding! It really does have everything down to a tee, from the decor and the service to the comfort and the cuisine, not forgetting the superb views, the great location, and even lovely outdoor areas. What makes this hotel unusual, though, is its intimate casino, its very pleasant spa, and its seasonal entertainment for families. In fact, the hotel changes its identity every season.
The Iberostar must be the most family-friendly hotel in the trendy resort of Becici, and is also the only one in this category to offer an all-inclusive formula and so many activities. In addition, it enjoys a beachside location, ideal amenities for guests both young and old, nice decor, and a full range of facilities! If only there were 100 rooms instead of 500, the whole place would feel a bit less cramped!
This imposing hotel certainly does not rely on charm to draw guests in. The Mediteran is just a few feet from the best beach in the area. It is a good option for families looking for a holiday by the sea who wish to stay in a hotel with a spa for mum and dad and a water park for the children.
