The resort occupies a rocky promontory between Cala Mandia and Cala Romantica, some 2,5 mi from the small traditional port of Porto Cristo and 45 mi from Palma, on the eastern coast of Majorca. Palma airport is 40 mi away, meaning that transfer time is around one hour.
The pastel-coloured rooms (bedspreads, curtains) are relatively spacious (24 m²) and a painting adorns the walls. All include air-conditioning, an electronic safe (for a fee), a phone line, a fridge (empty) and a flat-screen satellite TV (with 18 channels). The furniture includes two separate beds and a desk. There is also a large balcony, with a washing line, two white plastic chairs and a round table, that looks out either onto the garden or the beach. The bathroom has a bathtub with a handset and a flexible shower, a bidet, a toilet, a magnifying mirror, a hair dryer and Blau welcome toiletries. The 155 apartments not only have a separate sitting room with a sofa-bed but also a small kitchen, a large wooden table and a terrace with a deck chair. They are well suited for families with two children.
The Blau Punta Reina Beach Resort opened in 1990 and was renovated 2008. It is a member of the Majorca Blau Hotels and Resorts Group and includes some 812 rooms spread through 10 pastel-coloured two storey buildings that occupy a 90 000 m² estate with 40 000 m² of gardens. You will see: The resort is huge! Some will enjoy the lawn while others can stroll around the olive trees to the small wall facing the sea to admire the pretty port of Porto Cristo. Besides the indoor heated pool at the spa, guests have a choice between two additional pools, open from 8:00am to 7:00pm, which include a solarium terrace with showers, white plastic deck chairs and beige sunshades. The first round swimming pool is 2m20 deep (free diving initiation courses are offered) and includes fountains and waterfalls as well as a gentle slope, just like at the beach. There is a round 82 cm pool used for aqua gym. The second pool also includes a waterfall and has an island with a palm tree in the middle. Don't hesitate to step under the waterfall and enjoy an invigorating massage! There is a paddling pool for children, which is 30 cm deep. The resort does not lack in sporting facilities: a multi-sport field, beach football, five clay tennis courts, three pétanque pitches, an archery range, a rifle shooting range, tennis tables and a lot more! There is also mini golf and a climbing wall. In short, it is hard to get bored here! The children's club is ideally located under the pine trees and is well-equipped and spacious. It welcomes children from 2 to 13 years of age. Who knows? They might even bump into BLAUDI, the hotel chain's mascot!
Food and drink
The main restaurant offers a buffet formula, with international dishes, in a large and spacious room. There is a typical Majorcan evening on Fridays. Breakfast is served from 8:00am to 10:30am, lunch from 1:00pm to 2:30pm and dinner from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. You may also dine at the Bolzano pizza restaurant, which has a terrace by the pool, from 12:30pm to 03:30pm and from 6:30pm to 10:00pm (once per week and a booking is required). If you're interested in nothing but Spanish cuisine, however, the Finca is the place for you! Closed on Mondays and Wednesdays, this tasty restaurant is only open for dinner and this from 6:30pm to 9:00pm (once per week and a booking required). It is the perfect occasion to enjoy some tapas in a typical setting. A new menu is offered every evening. During the day, from 11:00am to 5:30pm, the poolside bar serves snacks on the terrace. And for those who enjoy a good beer, we recommend the brasserie from 8:00 pm to midnight.
The Cala Romantica calanque is 500 m from the resort and there is a nice path along the coastline to take you there. It is a nice small beach where you can rent deck chairs and straw sunshades. You can also play beach-volley or do some sailing, windsurfing, and kayaking. The setting is very pleasant (a nice cove surrounded by cliffs), the water is clear and the sand is fine, but in high season the beach is packed. A lifeguard keeps an eye on the bathers and the danger level is indicated by a flag. Showers are available, as well as a few restaurants and bars.
The resort is huge and you'll have a lot of walking to do, especially since the estate does not include any small electric cars. The establishment is open from the 1st of April to the 1st of November. It includes a small spa with a heated covered swimming pool, a sauna, Turkish baths, four bubble baths, four massaging showers, a relaxation area and three massage and treatment parlours, not forgetting the beauty parlour with its hairdresser and a fitness centre with state-of-the-art machines. There is free Wifi access at the reception desk and six computers are available (about one pound for 10 minutes) to those who did not bring their own. The conference hall has a maximum capacity of 80 guests. There is an outdoor stage for shows and entertainment, and in case of rain, these are staged in the bar. You will also find an ATM in the reception area. The resort offers half-board, full-board or all inclusive formulas.
