Located in the small seaside resort of Cala Millor on Mallorca's east coast, the Anba Romani hotel is a small and cheap establishment offering a half-board formula. It is made up of two buildings, the seaside Anba and the roadside Romani, and has a clientele that is 90% German. Both of the buildings have their own swimming pool, and there is also a third, indoor and heated one where you can enjoy a moment's relaxation.

    This hotel is located on Mallorca's east coast in Cala Millor, a small seaside resort with a lively night life at its centre. Palma is 40 mi away and the airport 37 miles away, so set aside about an hour for transfers.

    Accommodation 7.20 /10

    The guest rooms at the Anbar Romani hotel are fitted with tile flooring and emanate a certain charm, with their white walls dotted with lamps. The furniture consists of a wooden desk and two separate beds, while the amenities are quite standard: the television is tiny and you have to ask for the remote at reception in exchange for a £9 deposit. Besides this, there is air-conditioning, a telephone, and a (charged) key-operated safe. All of the balconies look out over the sea and are equipped with a table and two white plastic chairs. However, there's no privacy to be had here, since the neighbouring balconies are just too close. For their part, the bathrooms consist of a toilet and a bathtub with a flexible shower but no handle.

    A member of the Mallorcan Inturco Hotels group, this establishment comprises two charmless pastel brown-coloured buildings: the seaside Anba and the roadside Romani.Both of the 4 storey buildings have a lift and their own swimming pool, but there is also a third, indoor and heated, one with a whirlpool and a sauna where you can enjoy a moment of relaxation. Built in 1975 and renovated in 2002, the Anba Romani has 164 guest rooms. Open from 8:00am to 8:00pm, the two outdoor pools are practically identical (rectangular and 2m15 deep) and have a children's section and a solarium terrace equipped with showers, deckchairs and parasols. Three palm trees add a welcome touch of greenery. The pool on the Anba side may be slightly smaller, but has a direct view of the sea: you can't have everything!

    Food and drink 6.45 /10

    Meals are served buffet-style from 8:00am to 10:00am for breakfast and 6:30pm to 8:30pm for dinner. There is no lunch service but snacks are available from the barbeque bar between 10:00am and 7:00pm. The cuisine is international, but a theme evening is organised weekly.

    Beach 7.70 /10

    To get to the large beach with golden sand, which is a change from the coves dotted along Mallorca's east coast, all you have to do is cross the road! There is plenty of room to stretch out on the numerous plastic deckchairs in the shade of a parasol. To rinse yourself off though, you'll have to go back up to the hotel and use the showers by the pool. Bathing is supervised by a lifeguard and a flag indicates the level of danger, but in general, the sea at this beach is calm and there is no current.

    This hotel is open all year round, which is quite rare in Mallorca! In high season, the Anba Romani welcomes a clientele that is 90% German and thus all of the signs are in German. This being said, it's a great place for a linguistic holiday! The hotel does not have a car park, so you'll have to find a spot on the street in front of the hotel. In general, the establishment is very calm and only offers minimal entertainment. If you are coming here with children, bear in mind that there's no mini-club or play area provided for them, and there's also no babysitting service.

      This is an average hotel that is starting to look worn. With that in mind, its exterior is more promising than its interior. Apart from a nice beach close-by, the hotel doesn't have all that much to offer.

      This hotel is located at the Sa Coma end of the seaside resort of Cala Millor, one street back from the seafront. It is not a very large establishment, with around 100 double rooms and 100 suites, but is definitely clean and tidy. The clientele is made up of a mixed crowd: pensioners, couples, and families with young children come here to spend their holidays. The whole place is showy to the point of being kitsch, and whether or not you like the style is a matter of taste.

      Unfortunately, the years haven't been kind to the Riu Playa Cala Millor and it now has little in common with other Riu hotels. However, thanks to its location and the view from most of its balconies, it doesn't go entirely unnoticed. This is a place where the elderly like to spend their holidays, and the evening entertainment has been designed exclusively for them. However, in our opinion, this establishment doesn't deserve its 4 stars.

It cleverly combines a typically Majorcan and charming establishment with a prime location in a bustling tourist area. Guests at the hotel will enjoy a peaceful stay in this small establishment, but they can also enjoy all sorts of forms of entertainment in the neighbouring hotels owned by the same group. The best of both worlds!
