This is a charming hotel, which is ideal for a romantic weekend or a short family holiday. Its location, up high in Cannizionne, overlooking the sea, together with its impeccable service and welcome make it a very popular establishment. In short, this is a moderately-sized hotel which we highly recommended, especially for couples.

    Location 7.0 /10

The Villa del Golfo is located in Cannigionne on the Emerald coast, some 17 mi from Olbia airport (it will take you around three quarters of an hour to get there by car).

    Accommodation 8.45 /10

The Villa del Golfo has 59 rooms divided into two categories: deluxe rooms (which are equivalent to standard rooms) and suites. There are 50 deluxe rooms, 44 of which afford a view of the sea, and 6 of which look out onto the garden. As for the second category, they all have a sea view and are not located within the main building. The suites, with their private swimming pool or jacuzzi, resemble small villas with individual entrances. Guests may dine in their rooms if they wish (upon request), but those who wish to eat by the swimming pool risk being slightly disappointed. In short, the suites are ideal if you want total privacy, but the deluxe rooms are perfectly satisfactory. They have a big terrace where you can enjoy undisturbed peace (despite the rooms opposite). The deluxe rooms are clean, spacious, tiled and furnished with wooden furniture, a small television (no French channels) and comfortable bedding. As for the bathrooms, they are decently sized and tiled and their bathtub also serves as a shower. Towels and hospitality products are provided.

    Overview 8.70 /10

The Villa del Golfo opened in 2004 and it is a small establishment with around 60 rooms. Impeccably well kept, it includes beautiful buildings built in the local architectural vein with red roof tiles. The Sardinian village style gives the guests the impression of staying in a country house rather than a hotel. As a result, they very quickly feel at ease and can completely relax and unwind. From the reception area, a very warm and welcoming space, there is a small stairway that leads up to the common areas. The interior decor is tasteful and unobtrusive, offering a refreshing and harmonious setting that will make you want to discover more. On the first floor (there is only the reception area on the ground floor), you will discover an impressive setting: a superb swimming pool with a lovely panoramic terrace and a sea view. It is an incredible and almost magical setting, and although the swimming-pool and terrace aren't huge, they are spacious enough. Most of the guests choose to bask in the sun, comfortably seated on the deck chairs, whereas others like to enjoy a book at the bar. The peace and quiet is much appreciated. When night falls, the swimming pool is also very pleasant as it lights up in all sorts of colours. Not far from there is a restaurant, but it is best to opt for the half board option so that you can spend the day discovering the island and eat out... After all, that's what a good holiday is, isn't it? You can do what you want, when you want. After a good night's sleep in the rooms, which are great even if they don't afford a sea view, guests can head down to the terrace facing the sea, where breakfast is served. The view of the bay is superb, peace and tranquility reign and you can't help but think that you're dreaming.

    Food and drink 8.20 /10

Generally speaking, the half-board option is the wisest choice (breakfast is served from 7:30 am till 10:00 am and supper is served from 7:30 pm till 9:30 pm). The restaurant also has a terrace with a nice panoramic view of the sea where you can enjoy your breakfast (continental buffet, hot beverages served at your table, etc.). Pure bliss! Dinner here (or lunch depending on the chosen option) is a la carte. The dishes are typically Mediterranean and the quality is satisfactory. There is also the possibility of opting for a snack (sandwiches and salads), at the bar near to the restaurant, for guests who feel hungry between 10:30 am and 2:30 pm (extra charge). The swimming pool bar is open from 10:00 am till midnight. After dinner, there is live music at the bar on Fridays and Saturdays.

    To know

There are 6 family rooms (Deluxe category) that are communicating and offer a sea view.Near to the swimming-pool bar is the 'Bridge Room' where a small television room with a computer connected to the Internet is available for guests. Unfortunately, the connection isn't fantastic though.
Most of the clientele here come from England, Germany and Italy.

The hotel is designed to accommodate guests who want both a peaceful rest and exiting excursions. It is highly recommended that you hire a car to get around this lovely part of Sardinia. The hotel's management offers a boating excursion (drinks and lunch included in the price) to discover the Maddalena archipelago and the Emerald coast. Quite frankly, it's well worth the visit! With postcard landscapes that you can admire from the sailing boat, a turquoise blue sea and white sand beaches, what more could you ask for? The price? An excursion costs ?100 for adults and ?50 for children (minimum age requirement: 6-7 years), the excursion lasts the whole day and lunch and drinks are included in the price. Independently of how many people take part, the price per person is always the same.

The establishment is open from May until the end of September.

The hotel is not located on the seafront, but there is a public sand beach some 300 ft from the hotel.
