The main restaurant, the Méditerraneo, of course serves Mediterranean food under the leadership of an Italian chef. You can choose to eat in the interior, air-conditioned dining room, but we highly recommend eating on the terrace overlooking the majestic swimming pool, which is beautifully lit up in the evening. The same goes for the breakfast buffet, served from 7:00am to 11:00am: it's much more pleasant to eat outdoors in the fresh air! Breakfast is a real feast! It has to be said that the French pastry chef knows his croissants, but also his raisin bread pastry, cakes, tarts and various other pastries that are also served at dinner, from 7:00pm to 10:00pm. A cheese platter, cold meat cuts, fruit, cereal, toast, freshly squeezed orange, papaya, pineapple and passion fruit juice...what a delight! The problem is that the buffet is so good you won't have room to order the à la carte omelettes, crepes, pancakes and waffles! Just next door you'll find the Gastronomico, the hotel's gourmet restaurant, which can seat up to 20 people. Open for dinner only, the bodega (wine cellar) at the restaurant has a choice of 112 bottles. Among these is the largest collection of Champagne in the Dominican Republic and a large range of Mediterranean, Spanish and Lebanese wines, as well as wines from Morocco, Italy and Greece. The restaurant's name, 'Méditerranéo' is definitely taken to heart, down to the choice of olive oil: all the countries in the Mediterranean region are represented! There is even an intruder: olive oil from Chile, which is actually quite original and a product that we recommend trying!
The Italian chef from Milan who lives in Paris but works in Punta Cana, likes to surprise clients, right from the appetisers. Likewise for the pastry chef, who originally comes from the Paris suburbs. This is the man who will concoct hot croissants worthy of a French bakery for those lucky enough to be staying here to enjoy for breakfast. The products used are all good quality: pata negra (Iberian ham) starter, risotto in cuttlefish ink, and fillet of Virginia beef that cuts like butter. To finish off your meal, why not enjoy a brandy and a cigar in the Riva bar next door, decorated with a white piano and wood floor. As its name suggests, you'll feel like you're on a Riva, a famous Italian brand, the Rolls Royce of boats. We loved the glamorous 1960s decor. The bar is open from 4:00pm to midnight.
The Blue Lagoon pool bar serves snacks from 10:00am to 5:00pm. You can also find refreshments in the morning (from 7:00am to 11:00am), afternoon (from 12:00pm to 5:30pm) and evening (from 6:30pm to 11:30pm) at the Caleton Beach Club, under the large palapa with its wooden terrace overlooking the sea: La Palapa by Eden Roc. A great place to sample the fish and seafood, particularly the lobster, to the soothing sounds of the lapping waves.
