A beautiful old wooden door with, worthy of a castle, opens up onto the guest rooms. The only slight downside is the lack of tea and coffee-making facilities... Otherwise, no complaints! You can't miss the minibar: BAR is written in capital letters, and it is well stocked. In terms of size, they guest rooms start at a modest 50m² and go up to 160m². The bed is of course king size with large white cushions and reading lights so that guests can curl up with a good book before nodding off. The large flat-screen television has cable channels. In short, there are two. The soundproofing is optimal - you can't hear your neighbours - and as for the outside, there is only the surrounding nature to bother you.

The Wi-Fi Internet access is free and fast, and guests can store their laptop in the large free electronic safe. Of course, room service is available 24/7. As for the rest, there is discrete individual air-conditioning, shoe-shine products, a desk, a round table, four chairs and a lounge area with a large coffee table, an armchair with cushions, a sofa and a large mirror. The floor is marble and paintings adorn the walls. A large terrace is furnished with a large round stone table and four wicker chairs with beige cushions.

Clean, bright and well decorated, the bathroom is huge! It includes a dressing room, a large bath with a flexible shower head, tissues, a jacuzzi, toiletries, a make-up mirror that lights up, cotton buds, scales, a large separate tropical shower with a flexible hose, a double wash basin, a professional hair-dryer stowed in a drawer, bathrobes and slippers. The toilet is in a separate room, with a bidet and a phone. Four suites have a small private swimming pool and two wicker deckchairs topped with mattresses.

    Overview 9.70 /10

Contrary to appearances, you are not at the Alhambra in Granada, but at the Finca Cortesin, one of the most luxurious hotels in Andalusia. It is hard to believe that this stone property that resembles a medieval farm was only built in 2009! This finca or hacienda, call it what you want, is actually a hotel, and what a hotel! It has 67 luxurious suites, some of which even have their own pool! A flower-filled patio that is reminiscent of a cloister features a fountain, gardens, fountains, arcades, colonnades, arches, a carved and painted wooden ceiling, Moorish-style coffee bar, a rose garden and olive trees - you would be forgiven for thinking you were on the other side of the Mediterranean, in Morocco, which indeed is not far. Guests enter directly into a white airy patio on two levels, surrounded by the reception, bar, restaurant and lounge where an allegory of the four seasons is represented on authentic azulejo tiles from Portuguese churches. Painting, tapestry, antique trunk, porcelain objects... it feels like a museum. There even is one, which exhibits busts, vases and antique figurines, gleaned here and there by the owner who is a great art lover. As for the library, it could be part of the Palace of Versailles: antique furniture, beautiful carpets, statue and a fireplace. And that's not all! Go outside and admire the panorama that stretches before you, the azure blue sea, the surrounding countryside, the golf course in the foreground and the Sierra in the background. As for the rectangular swimming pool , it is huge and beautiful with its emerald blue background. Do not get carried away though: this is the small pool, only 35 metres long, hence the name of the adjacent restaurant: the pool 35 restaurant. A second swimming pool is hidden a little further on: a rectangular Olympic pool, 50 meters long, framed by palm trees. It is emerald in colour and furnished with Balinese beds or wooden deckchairs with mattresses. Of course, showers and towels are provided on site free of charge. The oriental cushions placed everywhere add a Moroccan touch. A green gazebo adorned with a wisteria reminds us that the places hosts weddings, not surprising in such a paradise of flowers and birds!

    Food and drink 9.70 /10

There are six restaurants at the Finca Cortesin. Guests can enjoy the à la carte Spanish cuisine, prepared by a German chef who has been based here for a long time. There is a large choice of wine to accompany the dishes. Breakfast is served in the main restaurant, El Jardin, between 7:00am and 11:00m. You can of course sit out on the terrace in the sun next to the pool, enjoying the sea and the beautiful landscapes of the Sierra. With a capacity of 80 guests, the El Jardin dining room beautifully decorated with tiles from Portugal also serves lunch from 1:30pm to 4:00pm and dinner from 8:00pm until the last guest leaves. At lunchtime, take a table at the Pool 35 restaurant near the 35-metre long swimming pool, from which the restaurant takes its name. In the shade of a pergola with hanging wisteria, it is an idyllic place to enjoy an aperitif of delicious local olives accompanied by a cold beer and great pasta! Fans of Japanese cuisine can head to the Kabuki Raw, the Japanese restaurant serving sushi as well as a tasting menu, à la carte dishes and live cooking. This is the hotel's 'signature restaurant', and an elegant outfits are a must. It is open only for dinner. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with tapestries by the prestigious Gobelins firm in Paris and wooden floors. In addition, the lounge bar by the lobby provides a charming setting for a drink to the sound of the piano. You can even read a newspaper.

    Spa 8.2 /10

Open from 9:00am to 10:00pm, the spa has a large indoor heated pool, eight treatment and massages rooms including one double for couples, a sauna, steam room and a real igloo! However, there is no jacuzzi. Products by the Swiss cosmetic brand Biologic Research are used here. Access to the spa is free and the decor is refined.
