The hotel was built in 1970 and it became the Rendezvous in 1993, which makes it one of Santa Lucia's oldest establishments. All the common areas were renovated in 2009, so it does manage to look younger than its years. What is more, the vegetation has had plenty of time to flourish, meaning the gardens are particularly pleasant. This is a long and narrow resort that stretches out along Vigie beach (also called Malabar beach). There is a golf driving range, a beach volley pitch, a gym, Pilates lessons, yoga lessons, Tai Chi lessons... and even three tennis courts, but it seems that the main reason holidaymakers come here is to rest and relax. The spa is done out in white and blue tones, with some surfaces covered with wood, and although it is rather nondescript, it is not unpleasant in any way.
It is well worth spending some time at the three swimming pools. The beautiful main pool and the poolside bar, next to the beach, are meant to be places of sport and entertainment, but when we were there, it was very tranquil. The swimming pool of the spa is small and rectangular, but the blue tiling and blue armchairs that surround it add a real touch of elegance. Finally, the third swimming pool is winding like a meandering river. Concealed by the vegetation, this is a series of little peaceful islands surrounded by comfortable deckchairs and cushy mattresses.
