Location
7.75/10
The hotel is located 1,600 feet from the centre of Cavtat, facing the beach, 12 miles south of Dubrovnik and 2.5 miles from the airport (or a 5 minute transfer).
Accommodation
7.25/10
The 269 rooms, each with an area of 190 square feet, overlook the sea (60%) or the garden, and have a balcony with a table and chairs. All rooms have individual air conditioning, a mini-bar, satellite television, and a telephone with direct international access. In the bathroom, a bathtub and hair dryer. The style is modern, with pastel tones and light wood furniture. There is a safe at the front desk.
Overview
7.25/10
Built in 1967, the Albatros includes a round central building and two 4-storey wings painted in orange. Entirely renovated in 1998, it is modern and functional, maybe a little cold. There is a large swimming pool in the centre of the compound and a children's pool facing the sea. The lack of greenery is, however, unfortunate.
Food and drink
7.25/10
The main semicircular restaurant (600 seats) has large bay windows overlooking the outdoor pools. Blue tones and light wood furniture. The restaurant offers a varied and good quality buffet. Mediterranean and international cuisine. There are a buffet grill and a bar at the beach. There is also a Croatian speciality restaurant. A cafeteria and a bar welcome guests until late at night.
Beach
7.00/10
The public beach is on the other side of the road separating the hotel from the sea, only a 2 minute walk. The beach has showers and a few deckchairs (for a fee), it is long and perfect for children as the slope in the crystal clear water is mild. The nautical base is well-equipped.
To know
The Albatros is one of the rare hotels in the Dubrovnik area to have standard handicap access (wide doors, ramps, some fitted rooms). Guests are primarily German, British, and French.
