Stepping into the lobby is a bit like travelling back in time, with a décor and furniture which doesn't seem to have changed for years, despite being in a perfectly acceptable condition. At the centre of the hall is a round table upon which is a huge arrangement of birds of paradise flowers above which is a stained glass dome. On the left hand side is the reception desk from behind which a warm welcome is extended to all guests. It is here in the evenings, while the pianist is entertaining the crowds waiting to enter the dining room for dinner that a great atmosphere is created with the sound of chatter and laughter as the bar chief directs the pianist as if conducting an orchestra. Also in the lobby you'll be able to take advantage of the complimentary wifi or use the coin-operated PCs for surfing the internet. Outside, just next to the areas shared with the Arecas, you'll find three swimming pools (one for kids) which are all heated in the winter. There is heaps of space around all three pools in which to sunbathe and also in further out towards the well maintained gardens. Here there is no problem either of the accommodation buildings blocking the sun's rays meaning a full day of bronzing is quite possible. From here, it is only a short stroll to the beach just behind the hotel.
If you're after some relaxation indoors, then the 'Body Love wellness centre is the place for you. It's not the largest or most impressive centre on the island, but it has a good range of treatments including massages, facials and aesthetics and is proudly managed by its delightful owner. There is a relaxation area looked down upon by a huge bronze sun while the treatment rooms themselves are well conceived. It also boasts two jacuzzis, a sauna and two cosmetic rooms as well as a basic fitness room. In another form of relaxation, there is a show every night of the week which takes place in the bar salon which has a purpose built stage and good sound and light system. There are 15 different shows in total so you are unlikely to experience the same one twice. Performances include flamenco dancing, Spanish dancing with castanets and a Gloria Estefan tribute act.
Other amenities at the hotel include a children's playground, tennis court, ping pong and pool tables. The general condition of the hotel is very good and the place is clean. Access to the rooms is quick, easy and pleasant via the corridors lined with greenery and modern paintings or the lifts in which music plays softly.
