The hotel's 265 spacious (36m²) guest rooms are housed in a 3 storey building equipped with lifts. The furnishings (bedspreads and curtains) are colourful and the decor consists of tiling and a lovely painting adorning the wall. Amenities include a satellite television broadcasting many channels tucked away in the wardrobe, a direct international phone line, Wifi (for a charge) and ADSL cable Internet access, a free electronic safe, a fully stocked (daily) mini bar (with complimentary soft drinks and bottled water), individual air conditioning and a terrace with wooden furniture (a round table and 2 chairs) overlooking either the beach or the gardens. The wooden furniture inside the room, meanwhile, consists of a small round table and an armchair with a pouffe to put your feet up on. The pleasantly decorated granite bathrooms come with a bathtub, complete with a handle, a toilet, flexible shower head, clothes line, hospitality products, hair dryer and magnifying mirror.

The Costa do Sauipe All Inclusive was built in 2000 and consists of a 3 storey building surrounded by well maintained gardens of palm trees criss-crossed with floral walkways. The hotel has three swimming pools. Lagoon-shaped, the main pool is where the daytime entertainment takes place (it can get quite noisy at times) and where you'll find the aquabar. The second one is a 1,3m-deep pool for children and a third 20in-deep pool has a waterfall. You'll find showers, comfortable plastic deck chairs, and yellow canvas parasols on the solarium terrace where towels are also provided free of charge. The pool snack bar, housed in an airy straw hut, is open from 12:30pm to 4:00pm. The watermelon juice and coconut milk are particularly worth trying! The nicely decorated mini-club, which is equipped with a variety of games for children to enjoy, is also close-by.

The main restaurant serves all 3 meals of the day as a buffet in an air conditioned dining room, though you can also choose to dine on the outdoor terrace should you so wish. The food here is a combination of high quality local and international cuisine, with a different theme every night (Italian, Brazilian, Bahia, French, etc.), and even an authentic pizza oven! Breakfast is served from 7:00am to 10:00am, lunch is served from 12:30pm to 4:00pm and dinner from 7:00pm to 10:30pm, accompanied by a variety of wines from Brazil, Argentina and South Africa. A second restaurant, open for lunch, is located on a sheltered terrace at the poolside, serving an à la carte selection of local specialities, including grills, meats and salads. The deliciously tasty picanas (absolutely divine grilled meats) come highly recommended! Children have their own restaurant where they can enjoy battered fish served with chips on lovely colourful plates from 12:00pm to 2:00pm and from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

The beach is around a 10 minute walk from the swimming pool, along a wooden walkway above a pond amid the mangrove swamp. It has to be said that this beach is the most beautiful part of the Costa do Sauipe resort. Equipped with showers, plastic deck chairs and palm leaf parasols, the beach stretches as far as the eye can see, with coconut palms set back from the shore. There's certainly plenty of space here! You might even be lucky enough to spot an iguana! There is also a beach volleyball court and an all-inclusive snack bar. Even though the ocean can be rough and the beach rather windy, you will still be able to swim and the beach is supervised. With fine sand and clear waters, the beach is both busy and quiet, thanks to the extensive area it covers. Most of all, it benefits from the protected, natural, and exotic setting.

Greek travel specialist Heliades has established its Club Olympien Sauipe Fun at this hotel offering 90 guest rooms. The hotel is well equipped for children too, with a mini-club, a separate swimming pool and even a baby-club. With a disco, a pool table, table football and a full entertainment team, not to mention the various sports facilities (football, tennis, golf, etc.), riding centre, spa, gym and even a water sports centre to keep you busy, you'll certainly not be bored here. Vila Nova da Praia, the artificial village located at the centre of the complex and featuring typically Colonial architecture, is also home to many bars, restaurants and shops. Parking is free for those staying at the resort, which, incidentally, has eight swimming pools and 1,200 guest rooms! Needless to say, you certainly won't get lonely here, so if you're looking for somewhere authentic that can offer peaceful surroundings, you'd best look elsewhere! A member of the Brazilian hotel group Costa do Sauipe, the complex is particularly popular with Americans. There is a mass held every Saturday at 5:00pm in the Vila Praia Nova village church. Do think about making a contribution of 4 Brazilian reals (about 1,5 pounds) before you leave to help preserve the environment surrounding the site. Attention! Watch out for mosquitoes by the pond at night.
