    Location 1.0 /10

Perched between the valley and the summit of Courchevel 1850, the Pralong offers a breathtaking view facing the Saulire. Guests even have direct access to the slopes.

    Accommodation 8.95 /10

With 65 guest rooms, the Pralong isn't the smallest hotel in the resort. The view, the size and whether or not there is a balcony all depend on the room category. While the standards and the superiors look out over the valley, the deluxe rooms look out onto the slopes. Note that the hotel also includes suites and apartments. They all offer a cosy interior in the same style as the rest of the establishment. It was the same decorator as the Saint Roch who saw to the furnishing and arrangement of the lodgings, and here as well she did a great job, especially in the tastefully chosen materials and knick-knacks. In addition to all the usual amenities, guests also have access to a few additional extras that may come in really handy if needed, such as a sewing kit and a shoe-shine kit that even includes a shoe horn. Presented with such luxury, we could only be disappointed upon entering the bathroom covered in white tiles. Equipped with Hermès toiletries, they could really use renovating to be brought up to the level of the rooms and communal areas!

    Overview 8.70 /10

As soon as you enter the entrance hall, the Pralong envelops you in a cosy atmosphere. Welcomed by a jar full of giant sweets, guests lightly step across the beige carpeting to the reception desk. If there's a line, there's nothing left to do but fall into one of the huge armchairs and wait. Opened in 2011, the Pralong took over the site of a former hotel but only retained the original structure. Indeed, everything was completely redone, from the guest rooms to the communal areas. We liked the welcoming decor that mixes alpine and contemporary elements, for example the many deceptive walls like the fake wooden one in the restaurant. We also liked the Balinese decor in the swimming pool area, decorated with net curtains hanging from the ceiling. Guests can also take advantage of the three massage rooms, the whirlpool, the sauna and the gym. Although in general the hotel isn't very large, we did appreciate there being a well-being centre, a boutique and a ski storage room.

    Food and drink 8.70 /10

The restaurant consists of a large dining room that can seat 130 guests. Here, everything is on a large scale, including the tables and chandeliers. However, the view over the slopes and the lovely decor, made up of taxidermied animals (you either like it or you don't), make it possible to forget the actual size of the place and the private dining rooms offer a bit of privacy. The kitchen is run by a chef from Brittany and the menu consists mainly of French cuisine. Scallops, foie gras, lobster, fillet of sole meunière, rack of lamb, etc. Note that there is a seafood buffet on Thursday nights. Those staying on the half-board formula can choose between the lunch buffet or the set dinner menu, which consists of soup, two starters, a fish or meat dish, and a dessert buffet.

Opened in December 2009, the Strato is not just another 5-star hotel in Courchevel 1850. Carefully decorated in a modern-country style, the establishment boasts a Michelin star restaurant as well as a superb spa with a view of the slopes. This is an ideal spot for skiing, relaxing and enjoying good food all while forgetting about work!

Although you may see many luxury hotels in Courchevel, you won't see many palaces. In fact, there are just two: the Cheval Blanc and Les Airelles. Opened in 1992, the establishment is also catalogued by the luxurious Leading Hotels of the World chain. With its charming traditional decor, its Cellcosmet spa and its restaurants, including one with 2 Michelin stars, Les Airelles deserves its distinction. This is a great place to stay, provided you can afford it!

The K2 Hotel is located close to the centre of the Courchevel resort and the Croisette. This hotel village stretches along the Cospillot slope, offering guests an incomparable panorama of the valley and mountain massifs.

Opened in 1958, the Lana is an institution in the Courchevel resort. Renovated every year, this 5-star establishment is still under transformation, notably in a handful of bedrooms and its indoor swimming pool. However, the rest of the hotel was renovated as recently as 2010. A member of the Tournier Group, in the same category as the Saint Roch, the Saint Joseph and the Pralong, the Lana also benefits from an ideal location at the base of the slopes.

It's hard to recognise the Hotel Les Grandes Alpes, one of the oldest establishments in the resort, since it underwent a complete renovation. The establishment now offers a concept that is unique in the resort: apartments with a well-being centre and hotel service. Here, instead of rooms there are apartments, the smallest of which measures 150m². Don't bother looking for the restaurant as the accommodation comes with its own fully-equipped kitchen.

At a time when luxury hotels are popping up all over the streets of Courchevel 1850, the Manali is the only 5 star establishment in the 1650 resort. Far from the bling of the ritzy shops located at the highest point of the villages, the Manali rigorously holds onto its secrets, and what secrets they are. Other than the impeccable service and the irreproachable cuisine, the establishment has a decor and a theme all of its owned dreamt up by its owners. Add to this the two level 'Cinq Mondes' spa and no doubt about it, the Manali is one of our favourite places in all of Courchevel!

It all began in 1963 when a young couple purchased a small chalet with 9 guest rooms. 50 years later, the couple in question, Mr. and Mrs. Rochedy, are at the head of an institution with 41 guest rooms, one of the largest spas in the Alps and a Michelin star restaurant. The Chabichou may have chosen to rank itself as 'only' a 4-star establishment, but its restaurant gives it an extra two, and makes it one of the most well-known and luxurious hotels in Courchevel, where it is a pleasure to stay or to at least dine!

Opened in 1956, Le Melezin has preserved only the best of a distant era: the parquet floor in the communal areas. The rest has all been renovated over the years to give it its contemporary classical appearance. Despite the small number of guest rooms, Le Melezin offers a number of facilities. In addition to the bar and restaurant, the hotel also has a spa, a library, a lounge and a luxurious ski storage room.
