Opened in 2007, as its name suggests, the Suites de la Potinière is made up entirely of suites. Decorated in a sober contemporary style, this 5 star hotel benefits from a central location in the village, some one hundred metres from the slopes. While the hotel does have a spa, it does not have a restaurant. However, guests can enjoy something off the limited menus at the charming bar-lounge.

    Location 1.0 /10

Nestled at the heart of the village, the Suites de la Potinière are closer to the shops and restaurants than to the slopes, which are located some one hundred metres away. However, you may be interested to hear that it is the staff working in the ski storage room who transfer your skis to the slopes every morning.

    Accommodation 9.20 /10

Don't bother asking for a room here, as this establishment is made up entirely of suites, 15 to be exact, all spread out over 3 storeys: the 45m² 'Elégance' suite, the 90m² 'Paradis' suite and the 450m² apartment with 4 bedrooms. Inside they all offer an elegant decor made up of parquet floors, fabrics in mostly cool colours (navy blue, brown, grey, etc.) and contemporary paintings. Discreet shades of lighter colours and rugs serve to add a touch of warmth to the place. The amenities in all of them are up to par, such as the possibility of directly connecting your iPod to the television and the balneotherapy bathtub in the bathroom. Upon arrival, guests are met with several extras: water, a fruit basket, fresh flowers and a bag filled with little surprises. At the Suites de la Potinière, every guest is a VIP!

    Overview 8.20 /10

It's hard to recognise this former traditional two or three star hotel simply called 'Hôtel de la Potinière' back then. Since its reopening in 2007, the owners of the establishment really wanted to show off its new colours by renaming it 'Suites de la Potinière'. Today guests enter into a sober contemporary lobby. To the left, they will find comfortable armchairs where they can pleasantly wait their turn. Straight ahead stands the dark massive reception counter. And to the right, behind an ultra modern fireplace, guests can see a superb, entirely white bar lounge with a wall full of 'street art'. The hotel also has a small spa with a colourful swimming pool, a sauna, a hammam, three massage rooms and a mini gym. Although there is a ski storage room here, it is a bit of a walk to reach the shop where you can hire or purchase other equipment and to access the slopes.

    Food and drink

Located at the heart of the village, the owners of the hotel chose not to build a restaurant inside the establishment, as it has to be said that there is no lack of competition in this resort overflowing with Michelin star hotels! Instead, a lounge-bar was chosen for the Suites de la Potinière to create a trendy spot to unwind. And that it definitely is, especially on Friday nights for the seasonal workers! The rest of the time guests can either have a bite to eat from the room service menu (ten or so dishes including hamburgers and cannelloni with aubergines), from the on-the-go menu (a slice of foie gras, mini-burgers, tuna maki with cream cheese, etc.), or from the catering menu (Caesar salad, sea bass carpaccio with lime, fish and chips, etc.). This is also where guests can enjoy the buffet breakfast laid out on the bar.

    To know

Breakfast costs £26 per person. Like most of the hotels in Courchevel, this establishment is open from mid-December to mid-April and offers its guests a free Wi-Fi connection.

Opened in December 2009, the Strato is not just another 5-star hotel in Courchevel 1850. Carefully decorated in a modern-country style, the establishment boasts a Michelin star restaurant as well as a superb spa with a view of the slopes. This is an ideal spot for skiing, relaxing and enjoying good food all while forgetting about work!

Although you may see many luxury hotels in Courchevel, you won't see many palaces. In fact, there are just two: the Cheval Blanc and Les Airelles. Opened in 1992, the establishment is also catalogued by the luxurious Leading Hotels of the World chain. With its charming traditional decor, its Cellcosmet spa and its restaurants, including one with 2 Michelin stars, Les Airelles deserves its distinction. This is a great place to stay, provided you can afford it!

The K2 Hotel is located close to the centre of the Courchevel resort and the Croisette. This hotel village stretches along the Cospillot slope, offering guests an incomparable panorama of the valley and mountain massifs.

At a time when luxury hotels are popping up all over the streets of Courchevel 1850, the Manali is the only 5 star establishment in the 1650 resort. Far from the bling of the ritzy shops located at the highest point of the villages, the Manali rigorously holds onto its secrets, and what secrets they are. Other than the impeccable service and the irreproachable cuisine, the establishment has a decor and a theme all of its owned dreamt up by its owners. Add to this the two level 'Cinq Mondes' spa and no doubt about it, the Manali is one of our favourite places in all of Courchevel!

Opened in 1958, the Lana is an institution in the Courchevel resort. Renovated every year, this 5-star establishment is still under transformation, notably in a handful of bedrooms and its indoor swimming pool. However, the rest of the hotel was renovated as recently as 2010. A member of the Tournier Group, in the same category as the Saint Roch, the Saint Joseph and the Pralong, the Lana also benefits from an ideal location at the base of the slopes.

It's hard to recognise the Hotel Les Grandes Alpes, one of the oldest establishments in the resort, since it underwent a complete renovation. The establishment now offers a concept that is unique in the resort: apartments with a well-being centre and hotel service. Here, instead of rooms there are apartments, the smallest of which measures 150m². Don't bother looking for the restaurant as the accommodation comes with its own fully-equipped kitchen.

It all began in 1963 when a young couple purchased a small chalet with 9 guest rooms. 50 years later, the couple in question, Mr. and Mrs. Rochedy, are at the head of an institution with 41 guest rooms, one of the largest spas in the Alps and a Michelin star restaurant. The Chabichou may have chosen to rank itself as 'only' a 4-star establishment, but its restaurant gives it an extra two, and makes it one of the most well-known and luxurious hotels in Courchevel, where it is a pleasure to stay or to at least dine!
