    Location 4.95 /10

Ariel House is not far from the legendary stadium (rechristened 'Aviva') and the suburban train station. Taxis can be found just in front of the house as well. To reach the city centre, allow 20 minutes on foot, 15 minutes by bus and 5 minutes by train. The international airport is 30 minutes away by taxi (9 mi).

    Accommodation 7.45 /10

The 37 rooms are divided into categories including standard (plain and simple ground-floor rooms), 'Superior' and junior suites. Rooms in the latter category are large and decorated in Victorian style. Some are furnished with a solid wood four-poster bed. The higher up the floor, the higher the ceilings of the rooms and the more ornate the mouldings. The 'Superior' rooms are all laid out differently, but the decoration and level of comfort stays the same. Rooms have double glazing, a small plasma screen television (with 16 channels), and a telephone. The safe is at the reception. The bathrooms, which are small in the standard rooms and large in the junior suites, are fitted with a bathtub, washbasin, various light fittings, a small mirror, a towel heater, a hair-dryer and 'Gilchrist and Soames' hospitality products.

    Overview 7.70 /10

The three-storey red brick residence is classed as a Victorian monument, and is adorned with a small garden. A few steps outside it lead up to the entrance of Ariel House and its reception at the end. Opened in 2007, before being renovated in July 2009, the Victorian architecture of the B&B dates back to 1850. The lounge is furnished with some very comfortable sofas, dark pieces of furniture, a piano, a large chimney and a big plasma screen television. The bow windows allow lots of natural light in. Along with the breakfast room, the lounge is the only room for guests to meet in. Painted in white and bright red, the many corridors with their various doors leading off, are pleasant to walk along. The Victorian style of the place, however, means that a lift can not be installed.

    Food and drink 6.95 /10

Although neither lunch nor dinner are offered here, guests can look forward to a sophisticated and traditional Irish breakfast. Choice is the order of the day, with a buffet on offer in addition to the dishes on the menu. There is also a French-style brunch, including brioche. The bright area is very pleasant, with its high ceilings, armchairs and red benches (with high backs) arranged on a brown carpet, with a view over the garden from the veranda area.

    To know

There is a small car park for 10 cars just in front of the house. Use of the computer and Wifi connection is free of charge. The price of the rooms may vary according to the events taking place in the capital at a given time.

The Davenport hotel is housed in a former church which dates back to 1863 and enjoys a central location not far from Trinity College and St. Stephen's Green park. Needless to say, its façade is unique, and the fine interior decor is impeccable as the hotel was renovated at the end of 2008. Basically, this is a good place to stay for those who like to keep it simple!

Reopened in February 2013 after 10 weeks of refurbishment, The Morrison now boasts a designer interior - a rare choice of decor in this city where most hotels are decorated in a more classic style. Add to this the delicious restaurant and the art gallery, and The Morrison is unquestionably a safe bet in Dublin.

The beautiful 5-star Dylan Hotel was not built in honour of the famous rock star. No, the Dylan simply chose to take up residence in the street of the same name. Now a small hotel with 44 guest rooms, the Dylan was first a hospital, then a hotel, before becoming the Dylan Hotel. It has been welcoming guests into its entirely unique, modern and elegant interior since 2007. Far from being a chain hotel, the Dylan has a bar, restaurant and lounge, but unfortunately no well-being centre.
