The Hilton chain chose not to locate its hotel in Dublin's city centre. This 4-star hotel is located in a quiet residential area in the south of the Irish capital. Its facilities include a bar, a restaurant and a lounge, but no spa, although guests can take advantage of the gym on the first floor. A lovely, modern, typical Hilton hotel.

    Location 5.26 /10

Located in the south of the city on the banks of the Grand Canal, the hotel benefits from having a tram stop nearby, which will take you to the city centre in just two stops.

    Accommodation 8.45 /10

While the accommodation is not the most original we've ever seen, it must be said that it is well furnished, with a comfortable bed and duvet, a large desk, a small glass table, and a chaise-longue. The amenities are also what you would expect from a hotel of this class: a flat-screen television, a safe, a minibar, and even an ironing board. We also liked the position of the bed opposite the window in some of the rooms. Note that the hotel has only two categories of room: standard and deluxe. So if you were hoping for a suite, you might as well forget about it now. The decor is generally understated, with wooden panels depicting trees. The same goes for the simple yet functional bathrooms. Note that despite this being a high-class hotel, water, wine and bathrobes are only provided in the deluxe guest rooms.

    Overview 7.70 /10

Built and opened in 1997, the Hilton Dublin underwent refurbishment between 2008 and 2009. The 4-star hotel therefore has a modern design, but lacks in originality, because even though all the Hilton hotels are different, they all have the same standardised interior without any daring to shake things up in this hotel chain. That's not to say that the hotel is not pleasant, thanks to its good size (less than 200 guest rooms) and well designed communal areas. The hotel has a bar, restaurant and a lounge open since May, but it's a shame that there is no well-being centre, just a gym which is bright and cheerful on sunny days.

    Food and drink 8.20 /10

Although there is only one restaurant, there are two choices of where to eat at the Hilton. In addition to the restaurant, the bar also has two menus: an AM menu and a PM menu. There's something to satisfy both large and small appetites as the bar serves classic (salads, club sandwiches, burgers) and more elaborate dishes, and even world cuisine in the form of the Thai green curry at ?14.50 (£12), chicken Tikka Massala at ?13.50 (£11.50), and Arrabiata pasta at ?11.50 (£10). Guests can also try the local specialities, such as the classic fish and chips. There's a wide range of choices for breakfast, including fried eggs and orange juice at no extra charge. Note that the hotel proposes a half-board package.

    To know

Although the Wi-Fi is free in the communal areas, there is a charge of ?5 (£4) to use it in the guests rooms.
There are two other Hilton hotels in Dublin: one near the airport, and the other in the west of the city.

The Conrad is a contemporary hotel just across the street from Dublin's National Concert Hall. It is ideal for its business clientele but will also please tourists with its quality service and because it is generally spacious and comfortable. A particular emphasis is paid to service, which is much appreciated.

This little hotel occupies a nice Georgian residence and belongs to the Manor House group. Ideally situated, it enjoys a central location but in quiet surroundings! The common areas are full of charm and in some cases boast a lovely Georgian style. Obviously, one would expect to find the same elegance in the rooms, but unfortunately this is not the case.

The Davenport hotel is housed in a former church which dates back to 1863 and enjoys a central location not far from Trinity College and St. Stephen's Green park. Needless to say, its façade is unique, and the fine interior decor is impeccable as the hotel was renovated at the end of 2008. Basically, this is a good place to stay for those who like to keep it simple!

Some wonderful traces of its past are still present in parts of the hotel, like the great hall where events are organised and the bar in the former strongroom, where guests can sip on award-winning cocktails. The delicious afternoon tea is another unmissable aspect of any stay in this highly comfortable establishment.
