This hotel is ideal for business trips, due, first of all to its location in the heart of a business district, but also due to its facilities, which are a lot bigger than many of the regular city hotels, in particular its swimming pool and superb gym.

    Location 5.9 /10

The hotel is located in the business district, not far from the O2 Arena and the famous Croke Park Stadium. Allow approximately 20 minutes to reach Dublin international airport if you take the tunnel (which enables you to avoid the traffic jams and leave the city quickly), otherwise, allow 40 minutes!

    Accommodation 8.20 /10

The accommodation includes beautiful, modern and immaculate rooms decorated with touches of bright colour! There is a total of 304 rooms altogether, including 90 which were entirely renovated in August 2009. The standard rooms are approximately 258 sq ft wide, and some of them have a small lounge for the same price. The simply-decorated rooms are long and rectangular in shape, with high comfortable beds, two straight chairs made with red velvet upholstery and small cushions, several lamps, a television (with a plasma screen in the renovated rooms) a control pad, tea and coffee-making facilities, a telephone, an iron and an ironing board. All the furniture is made of dark or light wood, including the headboards. As for the bathrooms, they are very clean and pleasant and equipped with a bathtub, a triptych mirror, a black granite sink unit, a Dove hospitality product dispenser, a hair-dryer, etc. By paying an extra ?30 on top of the standard room price, you can enjoy the comfort of one of the 34 'Executive' rooms! These rooms are identically decorated, but the desk is larger, dressing gowns and slippers are provided, the bed is king-size, the storage space is more abundant and a few extra services are included. Room service is available 24-hours a day.

    Overview 7.95 /10

Built in 2006, the Maldron Hotel Cardiff Lane is brand new. Not far from the Liffey, it does not, however, have a view of the river. It overlooks a small street and high buildings of contemporary architecture, some of which are still under construction or already completed (July 2009). The large, high-ceilinged reception hall reflects the modern, rather cold 'business-like' character of the hotel. Comfort is omnipresent here, with sofas on both the first floor and the ground floor, for example, as well as a large stairway leading up to the mezzanine where you can have a drink while you sink into large dark-coloured sofas. Next to the hotel's revolving door, a set of synthetic rattan tables await smokers on the pavement as they leave the (spacious) bar. The gym is really impressive, with no less than 60 apparatus, each with their own television screen. The exercise bikes are a-plenty, as are the treadmills and the weights. When you walk into the spa, four treatment rooms make a U-shape around the large 72-ft long swimming pool. It is a shame that it isn't very bright though. The hotel also has a business centre.

    Food and drink 7.70 /10

Served from 7:00am to 10:00am on week days and until 11:00am at the week-end, breakfast is both Irish and continental, including pastries, juice out of a dispenser, fresh fruit and cereals. The restaurant has a capacity of 160 to 180 guests altogether. Coffee is served at the table, and on both sides of the restaurant, bay windows let plenty of light in. The very simple decoration consists of wood and grey carpet, and at one end of the room, a wine cellar is available. From 5:30pm to 7:30pm, the restaurant serves light meals, and from 7:30pm onwards you have the choice of more elaborate dishes from the menu. Five light (sometimes spicy) dishes are served for lunch at the modern, 'geometrically designed' bar. The choice of beer, however, is much wider. The bar, which is set over two levels and is not very busy for the moment, is decorated with wooden panels and leather sofas. A large-screen television is there for people to get together for sports events and news.

The Davenport hotel is housed in a former church which dates back to 1863 and enjoys a central location not far from Trinity College and St. Stephen's Green park. Needless to say, its façade is unique, and the fine interior decor is impeccable as the hotel was renovated at the end of 2008. Basically, this is a good place to stay for those who like to keep it simple!

Moreover, its practical guest rooms are not too small and safety is one of the hotel's main assets!

You can forget about any ideas of elegance and refined style; here, the decor is exuberant, elaborate, out of the ordinary, and full of contrasts. Although the communal spaces are full of curiosities, the rooms are quite the opposite!

The Jurys Inn Custom House is a fairly modern hotel not far from the centre of Dublin and it has the advantage of being particularly spacious - a rarity in the Irish capital - as well as clean and functional (its recently renovated rooms make a pleasant 'pied à terre').
