Amy Adejokun Section editor

The Radisson Blu Royal Hotel opened its doors in the Irish capital in 2007, a stone's throw from Dublin Castle and the shopping haven, Grafton Street. With its architecture and contemporary decor, however, this 4-star luxury hotel looks like it was opened just this year. Although the Radisson is designed for both business travellers and tourists, there do seem to be more businessmen. Indeed, the hotel has 17 meeting rooms but no relaxation facilities.

    Location 7.21 /10

The Radisson Blu Dublin Royal Hotel lucked out on its location, between the Temple Bar area - but without any of its noise - and the calmer and more residential south part of the city.

    Accommodation 8.55 /10

Even though the 150 guest rooms at the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel are not the most original we've ever seen, they do have one distinguishing feature: the choice of flashy fabrics (green or fuchsia) for the cushions and chairs. There are 5 room categories to choose from: standard, business, 45m junior suites, three 80m suites with three bedrooms, and a 100m presidential suite with a balcony. Although the furniture is rather understated, it is certainly elegant. There's nothing lacking in terms of amenities, with a minibar, plasma-screen television, a safe, a trouser press, and tea and coffee-making facilities. The same goes for the bathrooms, which are equipped with a bathtub and a tropical shower, as well as Anne Semonin brand complimentary toiletries. Overall, a wonderful place to stay!

    Overview 8.45 /10

The big glass building of the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel is hard to miss at the heart of the city, where many of the buildings are from another century. Inside, the charming decoration is both contemporary and elegant: upholstered reception counters, designer lights, tasteful furniture, etc. As in most of the new hotels, the communal areas are connected. Thus the bar is in the corner of the lobby. Guests can grab a bite either here (or even eat breakfast), at the restaurant slightly further along, or even on the terrace where barbecues are held in summer. The hotel also has a second terrace on the sixth floor. The last of the communal areas is the business centre, which consists of 17 meeting rooms that can accommodate from 2 to 500 people. Even though the hotel does not have any relaxation facilities, guests can make use of the services at a partner well-being centre (with a swimming pool, sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi and gym) less than two minutes from the hotel. Note that access is free for guests staying at the Radisson hotel.

    Food and drink 7.85 /10

The Radisson Blu Royal Hotel has two options in terms of food: the brasserie, open in the morning and the evening, and the lobby bar, open all day. The restaurant's set menu costs around ?20 (17) for a starter and a main course, with a choice of six dishes. Note that the menu is changed every month. For breakfast, guests can enjoy the typically British hot options (bacon, sausages, tomatoes, Irish cheese, salmon, etc.), as well as continental options. In addition to the the food, the bar also offers a selection of whiskeys, including a 1973 Middleton, and delicious cocktails. Note that you can also take part in a tasting class, at a minimum of ?18 (15) for a class of 8 to 16 people.

    To know

While the Wi-Fi connection and a children's bed (up to age 16) are free, the car park is charged at ?10 (8.50) per night.

This little hotel occupies a nice Georgian residence and belongs to the Manor House group. Ideally situated, it enjoys a central location but in quiet surroundings! The common areas are full of charm and in some cases boast a lovely Georgian style. Obviously, one would expect to find the same elegance in the rooms, but unfortunately this is not the case.

Some wonderful traces of its past are still present in parts of the hotel, like the great hall where events are organised and the bar in the former strongroom, where guests can sip on award-winning cocktails. The delicious afternoon tea is another unmissable aspect of any stay in this highly comfortable establishment.

While there is not much to do in the surrounding area, the hotel itself has plenty to fill both guests' days and evenings, whether it be in the restaurant, one of the three bars, or the superb spa and swimming pool. Reopened in February 2013 after 10 weeks of refurbishment, The Morrison now boasts a designer interior - a rare choice of decor in this city where most hotels are decorated in a more classic style. Add to this the delicious restaurant and the art gallery, and The Morrison is unquestionably a safe bet in Dublin.

The beautiful 5-star Dylan Hotel was not built in honour of the famous rock star. No, the Dylan simply chose to take up residence in the street of the same name. Now a small hotel with 44 guest rooms, the Dylan was first a hospital, then a hotel, before becoming the Dylan Hotel. It has been welcoming guests into its entirely unique, modern and elegant interior since 2007. Apart from the massage rooms, sauna and hammam, the hotel also has a lovely large swimming pool, which is quite rare for the Irish capital. Neither too big nor too small, the Clarion Hotel enjoys a privileged location at the heart of the city centre, on the banks of the River Liffey.
