On the 'banks' of St Stephen's Green, The Cliff Townhouse is without a doubt one of the smallest hotels in Dublin! In addition to its 9 lodgings, this mini hotel also has a bar, a restaurant, and even a private dining room. A great hotel for those looking for a quiet stay.

    Location 7.85 /10

The Cliff Townhouse is located in a rather posh, quiet residential area in the south-east of the city, on the edge of St Stephen's Green and a 30-minute walk from the centre of Dublin. It's great if you want some peace and quiet, but a little limiting if you're looking for a festive holiday.

    Accommodation 8.70 /10

With only 9 guest rooms, the hotel is often fully booked, so we recommend reserving in advance if you're planning to stay here! The two room categories are based on size and view: the Townhouse Rooms overlook the street while the Parkview Rooms have a view of the garden. We like the mix of old-fashioned (carpet, wooden furniture) and modern (chequered cushions, bedspread). The two colours used in the decor - pink and apple green - also add a contemporary and original touch. The more basic bathrooms were slightly disappointing. Although it's a shame there's no minibar, you will find all the other classic amenities (and more): a free bottle of water, a Bose stereo, a safe, an umbrella, tea and coffee-making facilities, a (small) plasma-screen television, free Wi-Fi, a telephone, etc.

    Overview 7.70 /10

The Cliff Townhouse is located in a 17th century Georgian house, and not on a cliff as its name suggests! The lobby is decorated in a modern style, with its abstract painting and its white counter, but looks more like the entrance hall of an apartment building than a hotel lobby. However, it's what's above your head that counts, as the listed ceilings in the building are incredibly beautiful. Despite the small number of rooms, the Cliff has not skimped on the communal areas. Both guests and the general public can take advantage of the restaurant, the bar, and even a private dining room on the 1st floor. It would be difficult to install a well-being centre, no matter how tiny, in the small hotel, but we would nevertheless have appreciated some fitness machines!

    Food and drink 8.20 /10

The restaurant at the Cliff Townhouse, a long room with a bar at the end, is open to hungry customers from 7:30am to 10:30am, from midday to 2:30pm, and from 5:30pm to 10:00pm. With the wooden floor, white tablecloths and dark seats, the decor is all elegance. Although meat features on the menu, it's the seafood that reigns supreme, whether in the form of fresh fish or a seafood platter. A small platter will set you back ?36 (£31), and a large platter ?45 (£39). The menu also includes salads, risottos and lighter dishes. Note that a special 'pre-theatre' menu is available at ?20 (£17) for two courses, or ?25 (£22) for three.

    To know

While the Wi-Fi connection is free, the private car park 5 minutes from The Cliff Townhouse costs ?15 (£13) for 24h.

The Conrad is a contemporary hotel just across the street from Dublin's National Concert Hall. It is ideal for its business clientele but will also please tourists with its quality service and because it is generally spacious and comfortable. A particular emphasis is paid to service, which is much appreciated.

This little hotel occupies a nice Georgian residence and belongs to the Manor House group. Ideally situated, it enjoys a central location but in quiet surroundings! The common areas are full of charm and in some cases boast a lovely Georgian style. Obviously, one would expect to find the same elegance in the rooms, but unfortunately this is not the case.

The Davenport hotel is housed in a former church which dates back to 1863 and enjoys a central location not far from Trinity College and St. Stephen's Green park. Needless to say, its façade is unique, and the fine interior decor is impeccable as the hotel was renovated at the end of 2008. Basically, this is a good place to stay for those who like to keep it simple!

This large, handsome and classic hotel is partly housed in the building of a former bank opposite Trinity College. Some wonderful traces of its past are still present in parts of the hotel, like the great hall where events are organised and the bar in the former strongroom, where guests can sip on award-winning cocktails. The delicious afternoon tea is another unmissable aspect of any stay in this highly comfortable establishment.

The Trinity Capital, bang in the city centre and opposite Trinity College, has a few surprises hidden up its sleeve. You can forget about any ideas of elegance and refined style; here, the decor is exuberant, elaborate, out of the ordinary, and full of contrasts. Although the communal spaces are full of curiosities, the rooms are quite the opposite!

Reopened in February 2013 after 10 weeks of refurbishment, The Morrison now boasts a designer interior - a rare choice of decor in this city where most hotels are decorated in a more classic style. Add to this the delicious restaurant and the art gallery, and The Morrison is unquestionably a safe bet in Dublin.

The beautiful 5-star Dylan Hotel was not built in honour of the famous rock star. No, the Dylan simply chose to take up residence in the street of the same name. Now a small hotel with 44 guest rooms, the Dylan was first a hospital, then a hotel, before becoming the Dylan Hotel. It has been welcoming guests into its entirely unique, modern and elegant interior since 2007. Far from being a chain hotel, the Dylan has a bar, restaurant and lounge, but unfortunately no well-being centre.

The Clarion, opened in 2001, is a pleasant modern hotel without much character. It is ideal for fans of hotel chains or, more generally, those looking for a good well-being centre! Apart from the massage rooms, sauna and hammam, the hotel also has a lovely large swimming pool, which is quite rare for the Irish capital. Neither too big nor too small, the Clarion Hotel enjoys a privileged location at the heart of the city centre, on the banks of the River Liffey.
