    Location

The hotel is surrounded by the Vista Hermosa, a private nine-hole golf course, and Puerto Sherry marina, where as well as the many boats, lots of good restaurants can be found. The residential district where the hotel is located is one of the most sophisticated in the town of El Puerto de Santa María, which is known for being the 'Sotogrande' (swanky seaside resort) of the region north of Cadiz. Houses with huge gardens line the peaceful streets of this area, which is about a mile from the centre of the town. The closest airports are 11 mi away in Jerez, 59 mi away in Seville, and 81 mi away in Gibraltar. You might also be interested to know that there is a train to Alvia from Cadiz (with 3 daily departures from Madrid) that stops at El Puerto de Santa María, as well as a high-speed rail service to Seville.

    Accommodation 8.70 /10

The complex consists of 18 guest rooms and an apartment block. All of the rooms are in the 'Premium' category. They measure 40m² and are provided with a jacuzzi, which is either in the bathroom or just next to the bed. Some of the rooms are decorated in shades of green, others blue, and the design is classic and very stylish. Although there is a variety of different patterns adorning the walls and armchairs, they still manage to create a nice harmony. The rooms have a canopy and curtains around the bed and a view of the garden, and their facilities include a plasma-screen television and a hair-dryer. However, one feature you might find you don't like is the carpet. As far as the apartments are concerned, they all have a lounge and a well equipped open kitchen, a bedroom with two beds and a bathroom with all the necessary amenities. The fact they measure around 60m² means there is plenty of space for a comfortable family holiday. The only drawback is that the facilities in the apartments are older than those in the rest of the establishment. They are provided with two televisions, including a flat-screen one in the bedroom. The space is tastefully decorated, just like the rest of the hotel.

    Overview 8.45 /10

Overall, the hotel has an asymmetrical design totally in keeping with the purely Andalusian style present throughout the establishment. The walls around the complex are painted in white and ochre, like a typical Jerez cellar. The rather small entrance hall is original insofar as it does not feel like a standard hotel reception area. Instead of a counter, two tables are arranged in a room whose classic decor creates a welcoming atmosphere. The complex consists of two spaces that date from different times: the apartment block, which dates back to the 1990's, and the rest of the facilities, which were built in 2003. The guest rooms are in the same building as the reception, the restaurant and the stylish lounges (for reading and relaxation), which are spread over the ground floor. The apartments, however, are located in a U-shaped block overlooking the main garden, where the swimming pool can be found. The courtyard adorned with a fountain and lots of very well-tended plants, the palatial style archway and the dominant use of white in the colour scheme give the outside spaces of Los Jándalos Vistahermosa an undeniably Andalusian appearance. The hotel garden is lovely, and catches the eye not only because of the vast number of plants but also because of the originality of its design. The very tasteful decor is the work of Franciso Entrenam, an interior designer from Cantabria. The hotel spa is also worth a mention for its relaxing ambience and great choice of treatments. Massages (relaxation, chocolate, etc.), a spa circuit (approximately £13), aquagym lessons and beauty treatments (facials, manicures, hair removal, etc.) are just some of the treats on offer in the well-being centre.

    Food and drink 8.20 /10

The hotel restaurant serves meals à la carte for the three meals of the day. Breakfast is served from 8:00am to 11:00am, lunch from 2:00pm to 4:30pm, and dinner from 8:30pm to 11:30pm. The dishes consist of a selection of gourmet Andalusian specialities, like, for example, the excellent vinaigrette dressing with eggs and minced Iberian ham, fresh, light grilled fish with vegetables, and desserts made by the hotel's pastry chefs. The tables are dotted around in various spaces. One is in an intimate little area at the far end of the dining room, another is next to the window, where it benefits from the light pouring in from outside, and a third offers a more informal setting parallel to the bar counter.

    Beach 8.20 /10

The closest beaches to the hotel are Playa de la Puntilla and Playa de Santa Catalina (which are also called El Buzo and Vistahermosa), and both are located a little over a mile away. These are splendid beaches, and in this little part of the Costa de la Luz you can be sure to find good quality sand and water all year round, although the swell depends on the day. It's an ideal area both for surfers and people who just want to enjoy the water without worrying about too many waves. Both beaches are provided with deckchairs and parasols for your comfort, and there is also a beach bar and a selection of restaurants for a bite to eat when you start to feel peckish. Strictly speaking, the Los Jándalos Vistahermosa does not have a private area of beach reserved for its guests, but in summer it does provide a free shuttle service to the beach every 90 minutes.

    To know

This establishment is ideal for couples, as its ambience is perfectly suited to a romantic break. It's also a great place for families, because it offers apartment accommodation that can sleep up to four people at a time. More specifically, it is suited to families looking for a bit of peace and quiet, because there are no swings or playgrounds (apart from the garden), and organised entertainment is only provided for children during the summer months. The activities in question include clown shows and workshops, and they are limited to certain times of the day. Golf players and water sports enthusiasts will be thrilled with the facilities on offer close to the hotel. Wi-Fi access is free of charge throughout the complex. One service that deserves a special mention is the pillow menu. The heated swimming pool can be used by guests in the 'Premium' rooms at no additional charge, but guests staying in the apartments will have to pay a little extra. The same goes for the safes, which are included in the 'Premium' room rate but require a fee in the apartments. The hotel has a partnership with the 'El Buzo' social club, which means guests staying at the hotel can use its facilities, like the paddle tennis courts and swimming pools, at discounted rates. Guests at the hotel also enjoy a 15% discount at the hotel spa, and can make use of hotel towels in summer in return for a deposit. The Los Jándalos also has the facilities to host large events, ranging from company events to social celebrations. Indeed, the owners have a catering service as well as several rooms (charming old cellars) where dinners and cocktail parties can be organised, with capacity for several hundred guests.
