The Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach is a unique club! It has been part of the Viva Wyndham chain since 1995. Here, the service package is all inclusive, which means that you will come cross a vast majority of customers with a glass in hand. The hotel is comfortable even if some common areas deserve a little unpdating. The place is a recommendable destination for those who love entertainment, activities throughout the day and sometimes noise in the evening...

Location
3.0/10
The Fortuna Beach is located on the island of Grand Bahama. Situated 11 miles away from the airport, it will take about 10 minutes to reach there. It takes less than ten minutes by car to reach the small port of Lucaya.
Accommodation
6.45/10
All 276 rooms at the Fortuna Beach are spread across several adjacent one floor areas. Each room has its own balcony but it is difficult to maintain one's privacy when the neighbour has also decided to take some fresh air... You must, however, choose between the sea view and the garden view. The room is quite spacious and has two large double beds. Each has its own colours: bright colours in some rooms, and rather dull colours in other rooms. At nightfall, you can no longer see much even if all the lights are turned on! As for soundproofing, it is difficult not to hear your neighbour roaming around. We recommend to take a fairly remote room from the main bar, because of the music, unless you have a pair of earplug. As for the equipment, you will find a safe, a television, air conditioning, a refrigerator (in the "higher" rooms) and a hair dryer. In order to call abroad, you should ask at the reception for the activation of the line, against a $200 deposit (£105). The bathroom also needs a little renovation. It is still quite spacious and the shower covers the entire length of the room.
Overview
6.70/10
The road leading from the airport to the hotel is quite short compared to a voyage from the UK! The Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach welcomes its guests in a spacious lobby designed in Mexican style: sofas in wrought-iron with yellow and white seats, beige and green tiles, a few plants scattered around the hall... The lounge is laid out in a square shape in the centre of the room open to the outside. Sophia welcomes the guests. She then gives everyone a bracelet "open sesame", which gives access to the "all inclusive" services of the hotel. The common parts are all at the same location of the hotel: bars, restaurants, theatre... The swimming pool happens to be located just opposite the beach. Yet, its rectangular shape is not quite charming. Parasols and deckchairs are positioned around the pool, almost on top of each other. Right next door is the jacuzzi where many people enjoy the pleasant water at the end the day, and a pool for children.
Food and drink
6.70/10
The Fortuna Beach has three restaurants where you can taste different cuisines. Firstly, the main restaurant: The Junkanoo. The hall is arranged on two levels. The restaurant operates as a buffet for three meals per day. Here, you can taste international cuisine. The place is quite impersonal and completely lacks charm. Fortunately, the hotel has two other restaurants where it is only necessary to make a booking to get there. The Bamboo is an a la carte restaurant where you will be served Asian cuisine. The hall is not big, but fortunately it has the advantage of having only a few tables. The walls are covered with white curtains, lit by a beautiful softened blue light. Do not have the eyes bigger than your stomach, meals are very rich! As for the third restaurant, La Trattoria, it serves Italian cuisine. Yet it is far from Italy, believe us. This does not mean that food is rubbish. In the end of the day, for the digestive, but also all day long, you can drop in at the central bar of the hotel but avoid rush hours... Big blue and orange sofas, which look more like mattresses than real sofas, welcome you in a festive atmosphere. Prefer a small table outdoor, in the moonlight...
Beach
8.20/10
The beach is not quite different from the inherent beauty of most beaches in the Bahamas. The vast majority of beaches here are public, but the deckchairs belong to the hotel. The sand is fine, the water is crystal clear, even if we could crave for a higher temperature of the water! This great beach of white sand is arranged with many plastic deckchairs and a few straw huts to protect the guests from the sun. For once, you will find a little privacy since the deck chairs are well-spaced from each other. No service on the spot, no mattresses, no monitoring, but plenty of serenity!

Package deals in juin 2002Posted on 2011-07-06En couple - 3 à 5 nuitées (Chambre sans vue)
