It isn't in the old town but that doesn't matter: the marina is out front, and the sea and the rocky coasts in the distance. This lovely luxury hotel is ultra comfortable and right on the doorstep of the fishing village. There are only 14 guest rooms here.

    Location 7.74 /10

100m from the fishing village, Gallipoli's old town. The advantage of not being in the old town (other than being able to arrive by car) is the view... of the old town, with its wide ramparts, and its churches with their steeples rising up behind the fortified walls. Lecce is barely 30 minutes away and Otrante 40. The closest airport is Brindisi, an hour away. Bari Airport is a 2-hour drive via the motorway.

    Accommodation 8.60 /10

The hotel has 14 guest rooms spread over 3 floors. This means there are no long corridors. There are 3 categories: Classic, Prestige and Suites. Although they are the basic category, the Classic guest rooms are quite large and have the classic furniture that you'd expect from their name. Lovely marble bathrooms. Nothing exceptional, but pretty and nicely designed. All the desired comforts with a 70-inch wide, one-piece bed, a minibar, bathrobes and slippers, air-conditioning, etc. However, not enough to justify the 5-star luxury category. For more space, choose a Prestige room, with its four-poster bed, wooden and leather furniture, a fantastic state-of-the-art television (although in the television business that quickly changes), and a bathroom in true Italian style. Moving onto the Suites, which are not really suites as the living area isn't separate, they measure 45mē. The cream of the crop is the Glamour Suite, with its two levels, a huge round bathtub, chromotherapy, and LED lights on the ceiling that create a Milky Way effect.

    Overview 8.90 /10

Six metres high. That is the height of the ceilings in the lounge that serves as the reception at the Palazzo del Corso, an old palace opened in 2006. Add to this the prized wooden floors, the bevelled mirrors, the beautiful 19th century furniture, the sofas and armchairs that you sink into, and the classical music, and there's no doubt that the place is definitely classy. To be explored at great length.

In addition to the grandiose yet cosy reception, you will also find a wine cupboard that takes up an entire wall (not forgetting that the ceiling is 6m high, which makes for plenty of storage space!). A glass lift leads to the top floor. Here you'll find an ultramodern bar with a view and an equally panoramic terrace. A popular and renowned restaurant, and rightly so, has also taken up residence here along with a swimming pool. Naturally, the hotel has an agreement with a private beach in the south of the town (superb fine sand and turquoise sea like you find in the Maldives). Around the poolside (6m x 2.5m) are large sun beds, which make it impossible to resist a nap. There is also a Jacuzzi for those who love bubbles. The neighbouring barman takes care of the other bubbles, meaning prosecco, the local champagne. An extravagance: the hotel has a 16m yacht for hire with crew. It's not too expensive if there's quite a few of you. And quite honestly, rather glamorous.

    Food and drink 9.00 /10

Guests can eat breakfast on the terrace on sunny days, which are numerous in the south. A delightful buffet. On less sunny days (because there are no rainy days) breakfast is served inside. To start off the day with such a view is pure happiness. The restaurant's speciality is fish and seafood: the port is just in front and the many fishing boats provide a large supply. The prices are reasonable, with regard to the quality. At night, the old town is lit up - truly an incredible sight to behold. In winter, the room is less glamorous, but the spaghetti alle vongole is still just as good.

    To know

Note that the quality of the soundproofing in all the rooms is excellent.
