The hotel was built in 1998 and fully renovated in 2003. Since then, modifications and improvements have been carried out every year in various areas of the establishment, as is common practice in hotels of this category. In spite of this, parts of the Marina Palace could really do with freshening up, in particular the bathrooms, corridors, toilets, plumbing, etc. All in all, the hotel has 172 guest rooms, including apartments and suites, and can accommodate up to 394 guests at any one time. It has 2 swimming pools, one outdoor and one indoor. The outdoor pool is another feature that could do with some maintenance work, especially to the walls, which are slippery in places. The hotel has a conference room designed rather like a theatre, with enough capacity to seat 250 people. Next door to this is the business centre, which is equipped with all the facilities conference attendees could need, for example a photocopier, fax machine, big screen, Internet connection, and so on. There are various bars on the ground floor. One of these is open 24 hours a day, another from 4:00pm to 2:00am (karaoke evenings and concerts are sometimes held here), and a third opens from 8:00am to 12:00pm. These venues serve beer for £2, a half bottle of house wine for £4, and cocktails for £5.50. The owners were planning to open a brand new balneotherapy centre in 2010.
