Opened in the early 80s, the hotel has certainly preserved its rustic charm. Once inside, the charm continues despite the slight gloom, and the stone floors, the drill holes, the white walls and the vintage seats help to set the mood. A (slightly narrow) staircase leads to the tavern with its superb counter, which unfortunately is no longer used in high-season. A shame, as we liked the idea of withdrawing to the cool with the bamboo chairs (authentic antique enthusiasts will love the old CRT television hung on the wall). A covered outdoor terrace offers some entertainment (also vintage): pinball, video games, etc. The outdoor area is laid out around the lovely swimming pool and its bar. The staff are friendly and welcoming, a characteristic found throughout Crete. Children have not been forgotten, with a few facilities dating back to the construction of the hotel... admittedly another era, so your little ones risk being disappointed! There are, however, two well-maintained tennis courts.
