Guests at the Bennet Arctic Club, a large, one-storey, red-brick building with natural surroundings spanning as far as the eye can see, are received in a large hall where the hotel's bar, lounge area, computer corner and large dining room all make for a friendly atmosphere.
The hotel's entertainment programme is a varied one, ranging from snowmobiling and dog-sledding to visiting a reindeer farm, among other things. The hotel also organises activities such as ice hockey and aperitifs in a teepee, when the mood is right.
In the evenings, families can relax in either of two designated rooms, namely the games room, which offers various board games and a television that you can watch chilled out on big 1970s sofas, and the auditorium, where various films are shown.
Relaxation is also the order of the day in the long, cold swimming pool, which isn't very deep and is great to plunge into after a session in a sauna (open from 3:00pm to 8:00pm). The two jacuzzis, heated to 35 degrees and surrounded by a large picture window overlooking the natural surroundings, also offer the perfect chance to relax. Don't forget to close your pores again though with a dip in a very cold bath which is sure to wake you up, or perhaps you'd prefer a roll in the snow?
A small but friendly bar with a fireplace provides the perfect setting for sampling the local beverages, which include vodkas with cranberry liqueur and sparkling blueberry kir.
After dinner, head for the pub, the only one in Ivalo which does, therefore, get rather busy. Karaoke, Finland's national sport, features heavily on the bill here and the beer flows freely!
