    Location 7.5 /10

A quiet seaside resort in Kato Gouves, 20 minutes from Heraklion and the archaeological site of Knossos. The pretty city of Rethymno is a two hour drive away.

    Accommodation 7.00 /10

180 guest rooms spread across two 3-storey buildings. Decent accommodation but nothing more, much like the rest of the hotel. Spartan decoration. As for the amenities: pay-to-use Wi-Fi Internet access, CRT television, individual air-conditioning and a fridge. On the plus side, all of the guest rooms have their own balcony. Of course, if you want to make the most of it, make sure to ask for a room facing the sea (there aren't many). Otherwise the view is of the neighbours opposite, the neighbouring buildings, or a side view of the sea. The guest rooms can accommodate a maximum of 4 people.

    Overview 7.90 /10

A few soulless buildings are scattered along the seaside resort bordering the beach, its only real selling point. The lobby is clean, the paint and the furniture are in good condition and the space is roomy, with a bar, two Internet posts (pay-to-use) and Wi-Fi Internet access (charged extra). Pleasant in other words. Outside there's not much of interest either. Little vegetation (and the strips of grass are off limits to guests) and no special fixtures to offer the slightest bit of warmth. You'll be bored stiff. The swimming pools consist of several basins, including one for children. Covered bars and terraces. Note, however, that the hotel does have an outdoor area in the shade with some children's entertainment, a football pitch that can be used as a volleyball pitch, a well-maintained mini-golf course (wedged between the hotel and the wall of the neighbouring building) and a small gym (charged extra) with a sauna (also charged extra).

    Food and drink 7.70 /10

The main restaurant has a nice little dining room. On the menu is a buffet with a choice of international dishes (pizza, pasta, etc.), some meats and local specialities. On the roadside terrace, a snack bar serves club sandwiches, burgers, omelettes, souvlaki, gyros, pizza, etc. Don't expect much from the all-inclusive package during the day.

    Beach 6.80 /10

Just opposite, on the other side of the small road that runs along the seafront, the white sandy beach is furnished with deckchairs and parasols, with little space to simply lie on a towel. Of course, these facilities are charged extra. The water is clear but you have to head away from the shore in order to swim. Those who enjoy a bit of sport can take advantage of the beach volleyball pitch.
