Hotel Sri Lanta Hotel 3 star
111 Moo 6 Klongnin Beach Koh Lanta Yai Krabi Koh Lanta, Thailand
Amy Adejokun Section editor

The Sri Lanta is a charming little hotel in Koh Lanta. There's no mistaking that this no luxury five-star hotel, but it is a moderately-sized establishment, with 49 rooms, which certainly oozes charm. The hotel doesn't have a lot to offer in the way of facilities, but then all you really need here is a comfortable bed and a nice beach!

    Location 3.0 /10

Koh Lanta is not an easy place to get to, with the journey to the hotel taking between two and two and a half hours from Krabi. On arrival at the airport, you will have to make your way to the landing stage at Ban Hua Hin to catch a ferry to Koh Lanta Noi. You then have a second ferry trip to Koh Lanta Yai, and still the journey is not over! After a twenty-minute drive, you will finally arrive at the Sri Lanta.

    Accommodation 5.70 /10

The vast majority of the guest rooms are across the road from the main building, although there are one or two along the beach. The bungalows, which are built on stilts, each with their own little terrace, are spread throughout a lush green garden. Inside, the bed is topped with a mosquito net and the lounge area has been designed in a traditional Thai style, complete with very low furniture. The surroundings may be pleasant enough, but they could do with a little freshening up, not least the air-conditioning system! As for the bathrooms, they are fortunately fitted with very large showers.

    Overview 6.20 /10

When we arrived at the Sri Lanta, a friendly young man greeted us with a welcome cocktail and although there is no lobby to speak of, there is a small reception area topped with a traditional Thai-style roof, surrounded by a pool. The land on which the hotel is built is longer than it is wide, which explains why the facilities lie alongside each other. The shop, for example, is just next door to the small television room, which, in turn, lies alongside the Internet area. The small swimming pool at the end of the row, which faces the beach, is surrounded by a few deckchairs and parasols, while the restaurant is located on the far side of a small ornamental pool.

    Food and drink 6.45 /10

The restaurant at the Sri Lanta is located on the beachfront and serves both local and international cuisine a la carte. This, too, is designed in the traditional Thai style, meaning that you will be expected to eat seated on the floor here, rather than around the table. Outside, you will find a terrace, complete with all-wooden furniture, offering beautiful views across the Andaman Sea.

    Beach 7.70 /10

All of Thailand's beaches are public places, and Klong Nin is no exception, so no facilities are provided around the hotel. The fine sand runs straight into the light blue sea, and the fact that there is very little wind here and the beach slopes gently into the sea makes the place safe and perfect for taking a stroll along the shore with the sea lapping at your feet.

    To know

The hotel is well-located, barely a five-minute walk from the local restaurants and shops.
