To the north of Kuta, on Legian beach.
The rooms, though worn and average in decor, are nevertheless relatively comfortable. The room facilities are decent: 14 channel satellite TV, adjustable air conditioning, mini bar, telephone and 24hr room service. That said, a lick of paint would not do any harm.
Built in 1983, the Jayakarta has 287 bedrooms split between several -storey buildings and one 4-storey building (housing the superior rooms), all built in the local style (red bricks). The lobby is at the centre of the complex and opens on to two large swimming pools and a restaurant. We were not particulalry attracted by the overall look of the complex, nor by the services available. Both the infrastructure and available equipment struck us as rather too well-worn. An example of these facilities is the Kids club - a 161-ft², windowless neon-lit room. Apart from beach-volleyball, ping pong and tennis, the hotel offers very few facilities bar a beauty salon (manicure, pedicure, massages) and a gym (smelling strongly of sweat). Overall, an average hotel.
The three available restaurants are lacking both in capacity and charm. The most pleasant of the restaurants is the seafood restaurant. Sadly, even this is soon to close due to hygine reasons - it is built too close to the footpath and suffers from dust raised by passing bikes. The menu on offer in the main restaurant is rather stingy, but at a good price - around 20,000 rupiahs per head. Food service is provided 24 hours a day.
Katapan beach is large and beautiful. The beach is separated from the premises by a low wall and an earth path. It is worth pointing out that, upon exiting the hotel, clients are accosted by vendors. Once through this wall of people, you are free to find (relative) peace and the shade of some trees to protect you from the sun. No extra equipment is made available to the clients by the hotel.
Paradoxically, the superior rooms gave us a worse impression than the standard rooms. Moreover, the superior rooms are located within a slightly depressing building full of dull colours. Free shuttle buses to Kuta every two hours, from 9.30 AM to 5.30 PM.
massage, beauty salon
tennis, beach volley, mountain bike
Très bien ! la piscine est grande, les chambres sont spacieuses, idéal pour rester sur Kuta. L'hôtel est situé sur la plage

Peut être le prix Kuta est parfaite pour les surfeurs...
A good reputation, a pleasant park, and various restaurtants, the Bali Garden is a "mid range" hotel, well located in Kuta. However, it does not quite reach the same standard as the majority of the 4* hotels on the island.
A stone's throw from the centre of Kuta, on the seafront, the Holiday Inn is an establishment offering standard levels of comfort and a decor lacking in originality. Nevertheless, it has a pleasant setting and offers a convivial atmosphere.
A small, unpretentious hotel, in the heart of Kuta. Despite the urban setting and lack of facilities, it offers a calm, pleasant atmosphere and a restaurant with an excellent quallity/price ratio.
Direcly on the seafront, the Melasti offers its clientele a pleasant and relaxing atmosphere as well as a good level of facilities. The lack of leisure equipment is a shame, however.
The Meridien is a high standard hotel offering flawless comfort and facilities. Though it cannot offer direct access to the sea, its views over Tanah Lot temple and the coastal beauty of the location give the hotel real added value.
An friendly setting, a warm welcome, and simple, adequate facilities: the Wina is a great location in order to enjoy Kuta's attractions.
Located in the centre of Kuta, the Hard Rock offers a trendy setting, like the Hard Rock Cafe located next door. The hotel is full of very modern equipment and a well-considered decor that nonetheless has nothing to do with Balinese style. This hotel is better suited to those out for a good time than those looking to enjoy the best of Bali.
Set amid the greenery, this property consists of 4 atypical villas that are both huge and well spaced out. The Villa Mathis is in fact run by a Belgian couple and is the ideal destination for a group holiday with friends or family, in beautiful, comfortable, and modern surroundings that reflect the colourful Bali lifestyle. You might be interested to know that you can hire out the entire villa for a private reception should you so wish. It's a shame though that the beach, which isn't exactly nearby, isn't suitable for water sports or swimming.

This hotel stands out from the rest of the establishments in the area for its rather daring and original concept: composed of a series of villas offering upscale hotel services, it is located in a very isolated spot. Edged by rice fields and facing the sea, the establishment is located an hour along the coast from Seminyak. It must be said that the concept has proven a real success, especially teamed with the hotel's very pleasant modern architecture and wonderful facilities mostly aimed at couples seeking a private retreat. What's more, those who enjoy face and body treatments will love the hotel's spa, with its elegant dim lighting, but if it's a beach you're after, you may be disappointed.

A high standard hotel on the seafront close to the centre of Kuta. While the rooms are welcoming, the bars and restaurants lack charm.
