Direcly on the seafront, the Melasti offers its clientele a pleasant and relaxing atmosphere as well as a good level of facilities. The lack of leisure equipment is a shame, however.

The rooms offer sufficient comfort and decor lacking in flourish: light coloured walls and tiled floors. All rooms overlook the garden. The level of the facilities is standard: satellite TV, air conditioning, empty mini bar, telephone and 24hr room service.

The Melasti sits within a long park, opening out onto a beautiful beach. It has 83 rooms, split across a series of small white stone buildings topped with red tile roofs. The overall environment is pleasant, and is home to vegetation (60% of the park overall). Within the complex itself there is a sad lack of equipment, excepting an old ping-pong table and tennis court. Alongside the large swimming pool, a kids club, open all year round, welcomes children between the ages of 3 and 8, from 9 AM to 5 PM. The clientele here are basically Australian, French, Swiss and Belgian. Internet access.

The a la carte restaurant is at the end of the park, close to the beach. It can hold 100 covers, on an open air terrace. It is open 24 hours a day, and offers a choice of pizza, pasta, vegeterian dishes, seafood, meats and Indonesian specialities. Dinner is around 25,000 rupiahs per head.

Legian beach is separated from the hotel by a small footpath. Covered in white sand, the beach is a good size but offers no hotel-owned equipment.

The hotel has a small kids club, but no shuttle buses to Kuta (though taxis are numerous and not very expensive).

A good reputation, a pleasant park, and various restaurtants, the Bali Garden is a "mid range" hotel, well located in Kuta. However, it does not quite reach the same standard as the majority of the 4* hotels on the island.

You might be interested to know that you can hire out the entire villa for a private reception should you so wish. It's a shame though that the beach, which isn't exactly nearby, isn't suitable for water sports or swimming.

This hotel stands out from the rest of the establishments in the area for its rather daring and original concept: composed of a series of villas offering upscale hotel services, it is located in a very isolated spot. Edged by rice fields and facing the sea, the establishment is located an hour along the coast from Seminyak. It must be said that the concept has proven a real success, especially teamed with the hotel's very pleasant modern architecture and wonderful facilities mostly aimed at couples seeking a private retreat. What's more, those who enjoy face and body treatments will love the hotel's spa, with its elegant dim lighting, but if it's a beach you're after, you may be disappointed.
