Opened in 1990, the hotel is one of the most old-fashioned in the region and caters to an elderly crowd, despite its well-intentioned naval theme. The lobby, with its wooden panelling, mirrored surfaces and pastel palette, isn't to everyone's taste. A small card playing area is located at the end of the lounge in a small elevated area. There is also a computer here for guests needing to access the internet; there is also a small library with a collection of books left behind by English guests. The restaurant is just to the right of the reception desk. To the left of the reception desk is the bar, open until 11:00pm.
In terms of facilities, there is a lounge down at reception, a small area for playing cards, a terrace for sunbathing up on the roof, a small roof-top pool (heated in the colder months), and a small restaurant area. There is also a shuttle beach to the nearest beach, Praia Meia, which is just at the roundabout close to the large Vila Galé Lagos Hotel.
