Upon arrival, Yellow's large white concrete buildings with floor-to-ceiling windows remind of an Apple store but the spacious high-ceilinged open plan hotel quickly grows on you as you find your way around the hotel. The glass façade lets in plenty of light as well as gorgeous views of the sparkling turquoise waters of Meia Praia just across the street.
The modular furniture of the hotel looks like it was shipped right over from Denmark, and the neutral tones of the upholstery means the views retain the focal point throughout most of the hotel's glass walls. The hotel is built on a slight hill overlooking the sea and over five floors organised in the shape of a horseshoe meaning that rooms either have a side or full sea view. The fourth floor of the hotel, which is at ground level, is where you will find the lobby, while the rooms are between ground and sea level.
The hotel has all the facilities you would expect of a five-star establishment, including a lobby bar, 'Sensorial', a pool bar, two restaurants, a small shop selling essentials, a large outdoor area with decking looking out onto the nearby beach, two outdoor pools (one in the main decking area and one on the same level as the beach), a TV lounge for lazy evenings curling up with a good book, and although the hotel isn't adapted to young children, there is a kids' pool and club to keep them entertained just in case guests come accompanied with little ones. The hotel also has a spa area with three treatment rooms, an indoor pool for colder days, a gym, steam room, Jacuzzi and sauna - the use of the spa facilities come at an extra charge.
