Built along the Pantai Tengah beach, the Frangipani Langkawi Resort and Spa is a pleasant hotel. It is well designed but may however need a bit of renovation. The rooms are comfortable but rather gloomy...

    Location 9.14 /10

To the West of the Island of Langkawi, the Frangipani is only fifteen minutes from the airport. The capital Kuah is opposite the hotel, on the East of the Island. It is a good half hour trip to get there.

    Accommodation 7.20 /10

The Frangipani's small entrance hall is a bit dark. When arriving, you will wonder what you will find within... However, no bad surprise follows. When leaving the reception area, a little path will take you to the hotel's swimming pool. Its round shapes unite well with the decoration. You will also find a shallow pool for children alongside. You will not find deckchairs around the swimming pool, they are all set up along the beach. It's a shame that they are all plastic. The vicinity is pleasant but however does not have much plant life considering the luxurious gardens found on the island. The hotel's garden is a real botanical record. The landscapers had the good idea to indicate on small boards the name and the properties of the plants in the park.

    Overview 7.45 /10

The 118 rooms are scattered in the garden. Some are in bungalows, others in small, one-storey units with no elevator. There are four categories: the upper rooms, the deluxe garden rooms, the deluxe sea front rooms, and the suites. The basic room is rather spacious but seriously lacking in decoration. It is nevertheless comfortable and well-equipped: television, air conditioning, safe, mini-bar with tea and coffee kit. For international calling, you have to go through the reception desk. In addition, a room service is available until midnight. The bathrooms are rather sad and have no particular decoration. There are welcome products. Nevertheless, the deluxe garden rooms have an outside shower.

    Food and drink 6.70 /10

The Frangipani has two restaurants. The Mentari Grill is open for all three meals of the day, in a pretty frame on the edge of the beach. It offers a buffet and Asian but also international cuisine. Moreover, the Tree House Beach Bar offers a la carte meals and has light lunches between the swimming pool and the beach. Finally, to quench your thirst, come to the Frangipani Boat.

    Beach 7.70 /10

The building is in a beautiful site, on the Pantai Tengah beach. Deckchairs are lined up next to each other on the lawn along the beach. As the beaches in Malaysia are all public, the hotel has not set anything up on the sand, except a beach volley ball court. The land is a bit sloped towards the sea, so it is more pleasant to be on the grass. The location is a bit noisy when the hotel is full. On the other hand, the bay is not very protected. When the wind is strong, the sea is rather rough.

    To know

You will find several restaurants nearby the building, as well as some souvenir shops. Even if the building offers massages, it does not have a real spa. Nevertheless, you will find a large massage space just next door, to the left when you go out of the hotel.
