Elegance and design come together in the same place at The Hotel. This boutique hotel is an attractive option for those looking for some peace and quiet in this swarming city (and yes, Las Vegas can seem a real jungle for some visitors!). Luxury in its purest form is basically what you'll find here. The bonus will definitely be the breathtaking view from the 64th floor, where Vegas will be at your feet, making it easy to master the city.

    Location 6.15 /10

Hidden behind the imposing Mandalay Bay, The Hotel is at the very end of the Strip when heading towards the airport. Its neighbours include the Luxor and the Mandalay Bay. All of the other hotels are found further to the north. It will take around a 20-minute drive to get to the airport from here.

    Accommodation 8.20 /10

Just so as you know from the offset, The Hotel is entirely comprised of suites, 1,117 to be exact. Within this large number there are 3 different categories: The suites, V suites, and The H suites. All of them have been decorated in a modern, refined, and designer style. The colour scheme consists of neutrals, creams, chestnut brown and black. Amenities include a plasma-screen television, a minibar, a safe, a telephone, air-conditioning, etc. In short, all of the comforts you would expect of an American hotel are there. The spacious bathrooms are equipped with a shower and a bathtub, a television, a hair-dryer, a bathrobe, slippers, and a set of scales...yup, while in the United States you may find you want to check your weight from time to time, since it's easy to get carried away with all the burgers and fries! The bathrooms are rather elegantly decorated with marble and granite.

    Overview 8.20 /10

The MGM group, which manages the Mandalay Bay, opened a very smart and designer boutique hotel behind it in 2004: The Hotel at Mandalay Bay. This hotel has its own reception and lobby. You can feel the rather classy and refined ambiance as soon as you walk in. The colours (black and beige, with subdued yellow lighting) are quite sober and wood features throughout. There are many places where you can unwind, starting off with the lobby, where you will find billiards tables and a piano. The Bathhouse spa is next on the list. Here you can really relax in the heart of this lively city that never sleeps... It has smart and elegant decor that is in line with the sober atmosphere of the rest of the hotel. Black is the dominant colour, which some might find depressing, and stones play an important part in the decor. A sauna, a hammam, a whirlpool bath, a heated swimming pool, and a gym all await you at the spa, not to mention the 12 massage rooms. As evening falls, rendezvous at The Mix Lounge, located on the 64th floor, or The Lounge, which is a lot cosier with its club armchairs and billiards tables. You are also welcome to use all of the facilities at the Mandalay Bay hotel. Feel like going for a little dip? Head for the swimming pool/beach area. All you have left to do is to lay down on one of the numerous deckchairs on the sandy beach in the shade of a palm tree. Left to be discovered are the shark aquariums (and other sea monsters) and The Lion King show...

    Food and drink 8.70 /10

If you don't want to leave the pleasant ambiance of this boutique hotel, head to the coffee bar or the cafe for your meals. For its beautiful views and the reputation of Chef Alain Ducasse, dinner at The Mix, on the 64th floor, will not fail to impress your one and only. The contemporary decor with a French touch adds that extra bit of a romantic feel to the setting. Hundreds upon hundreds of glass bubbles adorn the restaurant. However, there are another 19 restaurants within the Mandalay Bay that propose cuisine from all over the world. You won't be able to get away from the inevitable buffet (renovated in 2007). Far from being kitsch, the decor displays a designer style with refined lines all in a tropical ambiance. Wood and vegetation are the stars of the setting. A huge wooden roof structure with ceiling fans crowns the dining room. The cuisine is mostly international. You definitely won't be lacking in choice, with Japanese, Russian, Brazilian, Mexican, Italian, Chinese, and, of course, American fare! One of the restaurants, the Aureole, will surprise wine lovers with its beautiful wine cellar surrounded by glass in the middle of the restaurant. The French Fleur de Lys serves à la carte fish and seafood in a romantic atmosphere. Music fans can go to the House of Blues restaurant to enjoy their dinner. On the menu you will find Cajun specialties, burgers, salads, Creole cuisine, and grilled dishes. Above all, live concerts are put on every day from Monday to Friday and there is a Gospel lunch starting at 10:00am every Sunday.

    To know

The Hotel is one of the 3 hotels that make up the Mandalay Bay hotel. The other two are the Mandalay Bay and the Four Seasons, the latter of which is comprised of 4 floors within the Mandalay Bay. Come evening, you absolutely must have a drink at The Mix, the restaurant-bar lounge on The Hotel's 64th floor. The 360° view from here is breathtaking, which you can even see from the restrooms.

With a touch of nostalgia for days gone by, when Indochina and hedonism ruled, this is the ideal place for a few days away in the city of excess (and sin!). The chic, classy Mandalay Bay hotel embodies the charm of southern Asia, its imposing frame home to a shark reef and various aquariums, among other things. When it comes to relaxation, you'll find the pool here claims to be the most beautiful in all of Vegas, and the hotel even has its very own artificial beach.

There's no need to get out your Indiana Jones costume at the Luxor: the treasure was discovered long ago! On arrival, you will be transported into the mythical world of Cleopatra and the pharaohs. Fans of this period of history (young and old alike) are sure to be swept away by the Luxor's decor, although some might find the kitsch aspect of it a bit too much.

This is probably not the castle of your dreams, but your children will love the place. The first word that comes to mind is 'kitsch'. So if ' kitsch' is your thing, when you step inside you won't be disappointed. At night time, when it is all lit up though, the castle does seem a little less kitsch and really looks quite nice. Hey, you're in Vegas after all!

The New York New York hotel is considered to be a 'little' hotel. Of course, in Vegas, everything is relative, but compared to the colossal masses on the Strip, the New York New York is of a moderate size. Once you come face to face with it, you will feel as if you're in Brooklyn or Manhattan. The atmosphere of 'New York' will make you forget for a moment that you are in Vegas, in the middle of the desert.

Who hasn't heard of the Bellagio, the hotel made famous worldwide thanks to the film Ocean's Eleven? This imposing building is really something special and is even more impressive by night, when it is illuminated by its dancing fountains. Decorated in a typical Italian Renaissance style, taste and class are what this hotel-casino is all about, and, come nightfall, the dancing fountains are not to be missed!

Its crowning glory is its cool and tranquil tropical gardens, where pink flamingos nonchalantly strut about and the new 'sexy' Flamingo Go guest rooms are also well worth a mention as they are amazing and ideal for a stay in Vegas.

A discreet hotel in the city of excess, difficult to imagine but not something to scoff at. Here, at the heart of the local bedlam, reigns an oasis of calm and Zen. Nobu Matsuhisa and Robert de Niro, his perpetual accomplice, have joined forces for an attempt at their very first hotel. A master stroke? Not far off.
You just need to follow the beautiful backlit onyx sign at Caesars Palace to leave the clicking of its slot machines and the shouts of the craps players behind and enter into the peaceful world of the Nobu. At a small reception, a personable young man or a woman will greet you, check you in on his or her iPad and then off you go to the upper floors in an upholstered lift, with Japanese fabrics of course. A quick history lesson for those that haven't heard of Nobu. He is one of the most famous restaurant owners in the world. Curiously not in France though, where the cash flow for the Nobu restaurant in Paris was exhausted by its partners, including a famous television presenter, forcing it to close very quickly. Elsewhere (London, Dubai, Hong Kong, New York etc.), Nobu has been a roaring success with his recipes inspired from a blend of Japanese cuisine and American fusion food. Delicious, healthy and original. Nobu's partner is Robert de Niro himself. He is also the co-founder of their first hotel, which is designed to offer all the refinement and originality of Nobu's lifestyle. To do so, they have 'Japanified' one of the towers of Caesars Palace.
