The Mandalay Bay is a luxury 5* hotel with an Asian theme which more specifically focuses on the quaint old-fashioned charm of Myanmar but with a touch of nostalgia for the Indochina years. In fact, the decor here is undeniably heavily-influenced by this period in history, complete with fans, palms, subdued lighting with a yellowy tinge, foliage-style wrought-iron light chandeliers, marble with floral and palm motifs and yellow, black and white tiling. These are just some of the decorative features likely to bring memories flooding black for a whole generation of visitors. Having said that, the Mandalay Bay also knows how to cater for children, with a huge aquarium dominating the lobby underneath a glass roof and another much larger aquarium where you'll find sharks, skate and various other interesting marine species.
The hotel opened its doors in March 1999 and was renovated in 2007. In the meantime, the MGM Group which owns the Mandalay Bay opened the boutique hotel The Hotel just behind the Mandalay Bay in 2004.
Let's cut this down to what you really need to know. The Four Seasons is a four-storey 424-room hotel which is actually housed in the same building as the Mandalay Bay, though guests staying at the former have their own separate lobby. Facilities at the Four Seasons include two restaurants, a swimming pool and a spa.
Coming back to the Mandalay Bay, there really is something for everyone here, whether you're young or old, and travelling with family, friends or a partner. Indeed, with an aquarium, a Shark Reef, wave pools, a heated pool, a casino, 2 spas, a gym, various bars, live music, shops, galleries and even nightclubs, you'd be hard-pushed not to find something that takes your fancy! The pool area here is in fact a sandy beach, and no - your eyes are not deceiving you - there is indeed a sandy beach here in the middle of the dessert! Between the palm trees, deckchairs, day-beds and beach cabanas, you could be forgiven for thinking you were in Miami, and this is certainly the nicest pool area in all of Vegas.
When it comes to evening entertainment, various shows are put on for visitors' enjoyment, including the famous musical The Lion King, which is currently playing at the Mandalay Bay.
