    Location 6.5 /10

To the north of Kuta, on the edge of the Legian beach.

    Accommodation 8.95 /10

Here at Easyvoyage, we think that the Legian's rooms are amongst the best on the island. Obviously though, it's all a question of taste. What cannot be argued, however, is the dimensions and services provided: 1,065 ft², satellite TV (14 channels), balcony/terrace with chair and deckchair, telephone, stereo, kitchenette with fridge, coffe maker and traditional Balinese tea service (various products), entrance hall, large living room, large bedroom and an enormous bathroom with two basins, bath, shower and seperate toilet. The decor is superb and is largely made of teak and palm wood, whether for the furnishings, flooring or doors and windows. The lighting system is amazing - nearly 1,000 different light sources. The above dimensions and description are for a "studio suite" or "standard" room. Importantly, all rooms have a sea view.

    Overview 8.95 /10

The "must" from the region of Kuta. The only fault of this hotel: it is a multi-storey building rather than a more traditional wooden construction at street level. This problem aside, this little 67 room hotel offers a perfect balance between modernity and traditional Balinese decor - like the tower on the front of the hotel, in hommage to Besakih temple. The remarkable setting, faultless services and facilities make this truly an exceptional hotel. It offers a simple design, clean lines, and a chic and intimate ambiance appropriate for an international clientele. All of the infrastructure, including the bedrooms, face the sea. Between the building and the lovely beach, there is a fantastic infinity pool, flanked by a semi-covered restaurant with contemporary decor. No sporting equipment provided (hence the 18/20 rating) but a lovely spa.

    Food and drink 8.70 /10

Behind the welcome hall, on the edge of the swimming pool, the restaurant offers a warm and refined welcome. Open to the outdoors due to large folding screens, the restaurant allows guests to make the most of the sea view. The contemporary furniture is wooden and covered in mauve cushions. The menu offered by the restaurant isn't extremely varied and focuses on Asian and western cuisine, but the common meal for all the guests changes 4 times a week. The food is of high quality, cooked by a well-known German chef: Dorin Schuster - recently come from a Michelin starred restaurant. Food is around 150,000 rupiahs per head. The wine list is worth noting, offering a choice of predominantly Australian wines, alongside Chilean, French, Italian, American and New Zealand offerings. The restaurant makes its own bread and oil.

    Beach 8.45 /10

The Legian beach is pretty, covered in white sand. The water is fairly clear, though the numerous waves and swells make swimming a rather "sporting" activity. There is a 655 ft stretch on the left of the beach that has lifeguards. On various levels, grassy stretches equipped with parasols and deckchairs stretch between the sea and the attractive infinity pool.

    To know

All rooms have a sea view. The Legian and the Chedi in Ubud have the same owners.
