The immense and original Maritim Jolie Ville is a hotel complex that was built in 1983 and renovated in 2006. Its amenities are as numerous as they are varied. Outside of the city centre, it occupies the greater part of the 40,000 sq mi Crocodile Island. The hotel's facilities are quite some way from one another, which means you might have a fair bit of walking to do. Having said that, the natural surroundings are quite pleasant for a stroll. The establishment is on the banks of the Nile, and its features include a small zoo, two tennis courts, swimming pools with slides, a children's club, several bars and restaurants, a medical centre, and a gym. These facilities are spread over the whole property, which is also dotted with little bungalows in which the guest rooms themselves are housed. The setting is so different from the other hotels in Luxor, it is easy to forget you are in Egypt at all. Although there are a lot of guests, the establishment is a pleasant place to spend some time. That said, the second swimming pool, which is also the largest (and not monitored) and has a children's playground next to it, is a very lively place with loudspeakers pumping out techno music.
