This emblematic hotel of Madrid opened in 1964, and is composed of an 18-storey building visible from some of the surrounding streets. In fact, it occupies two buildings built back-to-back: the first houses the main areas of the hotel, whereas the second has some guest rooms belonging to the establishment, as well as several apartments and offices.
The entrance hall is a large space that includes the communal areas and offers a mixture of atmospheres. The lifts are right in front of the entrance, with the reception desk to your right, something that some guests may find disorientating. The entrance hall also provides access to one of the restaurants (Le Relais), several clothes boutiques, a travel agency, a coffee shop and a few relaxation areas fitted with sofas and plasma-screen TVs broadcasting information about the available services and the events put on by the hotel. Like most establishments of its size, the NH regularly renovates its facilities. The most recent and biggest renovation was carried out in 2009. The spa and the gym, which belong to the Elysium brand (Ingesport group), are spread over two floors and shouldn't be missed under any circumstances. The gym includes two rooms fitted with the latest machines (treadmill, weight lifting and cardiovascular equipment), and two multipurpose rooms for lessons (spinning, aerobics), as well as an area for stretching. The energy drink vending machine, the assistance of a personal trainer, and the TGS system which can save your training sessions just add to the quality of the gym. Elysium also includes a heated pool with a water circuit made of glass so as to allow bathers to enjoy pleasant natural lighting. Five beauty parlours and three cabins equipped with a bathtub are used for the numerous treatments on offer. Many other offerings are available: in the changing room area, two staff members offer a full range of services, such as drying your hair, styling it (performed by a proper hairdresser) or providing you with beauty products such as makeup remover, shower gel, shampoo, etc. You're in for a real pampering! But wait, there's more! Further surprises in store for you include a running club created by the centre for its clientele so that it can take part in marathons. Furthermore, a chiropodist can have a look at your feet for you. As a guest of the NH Eurobuilding, you enjoy a preferential rate of around £18 to gain access to all of the centre's facilities, excluding treatments and massages. However, if you're not a guest at the establishment, the entrance fee will set you back £44. You should also note that the hotel also has 3 outdoor paddle tennis courts.
