    • To know

    • The Occidental Miguel 聲gel stands at the intersection of two of Madrid's main streets (Paseo de la Castellana and Jos Abascal), in a business district with numerous restaurants. Among the places of interest you'll find nearby, there is the Puerta del Sol, which is about 1.5 mi away, and the Prado Museum, around 2 mi away. You're also only a 5-minute walk from Salamanca, Madrid's glamorous shopping district. The establishment also offers easy access to the airport, both by road (8 mi away and a relatively direct route) and metro. The nearest underground station is Gregorio Mara嚧n (lines 7 and 10), located at the foot of the hotel. Furthermore, there are many bus stops in the surrounding area which provide access to all the different parts of the capital.

    • This 7-floor building has 262 guest rooms spread across 6 of its floors. There are various categories on offer, the most prestigious of which are the 177 Deluxe rooms. The rest of the rooms make up the 'Club Miguel 聲gel' category, which includes the Royal Executive and the Royal Executive Premier, as well as the Royal Executive junior suites and the Royal Executive senior suites. The difference between these resides in their size and in a couple of additional amenities, such as a jacuzzi, a lounge area and a DVD player.? Regardless of the rooms' category, they're all decorated in a resolutely classical style, with some details, such as the furniture, beginning to show their age. The Deluxe rooms are spacious and comfortable, and they boast a true class: salmon-coloured wallpaper, English-style furniture, stripy curtains, light fixtures with lampshades, a gilded structure and wall-to-wall carpeting. They also include a suit stand with a trouser-press, a TV set (in a TV chest), double doors, a hair-dryer (wall-mounted) a mini-bar and a safe, for which there is an extra charge. The bathroom includes a double wash basin, a shower with a curtain, and a selection of hospitality products, more of which you can ask for at the reception desk. The rooms afford a view of the Paseo de la Castellana (those that come in the superior category), the garden or the interior courtyard.
    • The hotel occupies a single building that stands out for its height and elegant glass-clad fa蓷de, boasting a modern style that contrasts with the interior. In 2000, the establishment underwent a near-complete renovation, but certain details, such as the reception area and entrance hall, have not been changed since the establishment opened. The interior decor of the common areas and the rooms is classic in style. Thanks to the many works of art on display, the entrance hall looks like a palace: carpet, clock, lamps, sofas, (some are a bit worn out) and even a nice area with a fireplace. Although it has more than 250 guest rooms, the layout of the hotel is perfectly thought out making it very difficult to get lost. The common areas occupy the ground floor and the basement. Some are very different in style from the rest of the building, and will most probably attract your attention. The La Broche restaurant and the Spa, for example, boast a highly modern and minimalist interior that is a striking contrast with the more cluttered style of the rest of the hotel.
    • Here's another strong point of the Occidental Miguel 聲gel: it has two restaurants. The La Broche is a very famous restaurant that serves creative cuisine. It used to be run by the equally famous chef Sergi Arola, and earned a Michelin star. It's now run by 聲gel Palacios, and remains one of the best restaurants in Madrid, with specialties such as the steak tartare and the bream with marinated chanterelles, followed by the pistachio praline. High-quality products and avant-garde creations are the main ingredients of the restaurant's culinary offerings. Surrounded by an interior decor that is minimalist, with an abundant use of white (table cloths, chairs, walls), you can also enjoy your lunch and dinner here, while admiring the view of the Castellana from one of the large bay windows. The average price for a meal is around 90. The sommelier, Jess Cobo, has the difficult task of managing and replenishing a cellar of over 500 wines. The hotel's second restaurant is the Arco, offering Mediterranean-style cuisine. It serves breakfast as a buffet consisting of fruit, pastries, cereal, cold cuts of pork, and fresh fruit juice; everything you need for a good start to the day. The only problem is that lunch and dinner are only available to groups that have booked in advance. However, in the summer, the 'El Jard璯 del Miguel 聲gel' (Michael Angelo's garden) opens every evening from 8:30pm to 11:30pm. This is a 1,000 m terrace in the hotel's interior courtyard, where you can enjoy dinner in a very friendly atmosphere. For a drink, you can't beat the hotel's hall or the pergola. However, the prices go hand in hand with the level of luxury!
    • This is one of the better-known hotels in Madrid and its reputation stems from the events it has organised and the celebrities it has welcomed since it opened in 1977. Its illustrious career started on the day it was inaugurated, in the presence of Queen Sofia herself, then the Princess of Asturias. Since then, many celebrities have stayed here, including, among others, actors Jeremy Irons and Ewan McGregor, and artists of international renown such as Pl塶ido Domingo, Peter Gabriel and Cher. The hotel also once welcomed through its doors Camilo Jos Cela, a Spanish Nobel Price-winning author, as a weekly guest. Former US president Bill Clinton also honoured the establishment with a visit. In fact, he spent five days here, during which the establishment became one of the most secure places in the world. In addition to its incredible style, numerous amenities come for free, such as the Wi-Fi access available throughout the building, and the water-circuit in the Spa, called The Lab Room Hotel Miguel 聲gel. We highly recommend this hotel as it offers everything you'll need to take good care of yourself, all in a sophisticated and classy setting. What is more, even if you're not a resident guest, you can still enjoy some of its facilities. The most complete formula is the hydrotherapy circuit (free for hotel guests, or otherwise approximately 35). it includes a jacuzzi, a contrast shower, a shower with essential oils, Turkish baths, a Finnish sauna and a pool with massaging jets. Various treatments are on offer for an added charge (manicure, massages, hairdresser, etc.). The hotel also includes a modern and well-equipped gym.
