The 4-star Sieteislas hotel was named after the Canary Islands, and many references are made to those isles of the Atlantic Ocean. It's a stone's throw from the emblematic Gran Via avenue. It's a modern and comfortable establishment ideally suited for a holiday in Madrid. It is endowed with spacious and cosy rooms, friendly staff, and a restaurant that only serves breakfast. It's also the venue for several events such as meetings and conferences.

    Location 3.0 /10

The hotel enjoys a good location, since it stands in a little street that runs perpendicular to the emblematic Gran Vía avenue. Thus, you'll enjoy some peace and quiet while remaining close to numerous tourist attractions. However, you should know that the area surrounding Gran Vía is very lively at night because of its numerous party venues. What's more, it's not the safest of places... The hotel stands opposite a public car park and a catholic school. The Gran Vía, Madrid's symbolic century-old avenue, is home to a large number of shops, eateries and sources of entertainment. It is also home to a large number of cinemas and theatres, which is why it is known as Madrid's answer to Broadway. Among the other tourist sites within walking distance, there is the Puerta del Sol, the Royal Palace, and the Chueca neighbourhood. When it comes to transport, you'll have everything you need within easy reach, including taxi ranks and bus stops just a few metres away, and the metro stations of Callao (lines 3 and 5) and Gran Via (lines 1 and 5). Sol Metro station, where you can catch a suburban train, is five minutes away and Barajas airport is approximately 11 mi from the hotel.

    Accommodation 7.95 /10

The hotel has 79 rooms, including three junior suites. The remaining accommodation units are double rooms. They all include a desk, a TV set broadcasting international channels, a full-length mirror, a luggage rack, wall-to-wall carpeting, a free safe, a mini-bar, a hair-dryer (resembling a phone), a bathtub with a shower screen, a make-up mirror, hospitality products and paper tissues. The dominant colours here are blue (the carpet), beige (the fabrics) and brown (the wood). Each room is decorated with photos of the commune it's named after. Half of the rooms look out onto the street, whereas the other half look out onto an interior courtyard. The junior suites have some additional amenities, such as a trouser press, a hydromassage bathtub, a shower and a terrace furnished with deckchairs, a table and a parasol for the summer.

    Overview 7.70 /10

The establishment was formerly the Tryp Lar, before it was entirely renovated in 2002. It occupies a six-storey building, with each floor named after an island of the Canary archipelago. Each room has the name of a commune of the archipelago engraved on a plaque that also bears a small description of the city. The entrance hall is a large space with numerous relaxation areas, a cafe and the reception desk. It's crammed with numerous decorative elements and references to the Canary Islands, and there is an area with a fountain and some plants making this area particularly pleasant. One of the displays is of an Aborigine ceramic reproduction of Lanzarote's Guanche culture, made by master craftsman Juan Brito. Furthermore, the hotel has a 100 m² conference room called 'Timanfaya'.

    Food and drink 7.45 /10

The Sieteislas has a restaurant that serves only a buffet breakfast from 7:30am to 10:30am from Monday to Friday and from 8:00am to 11:00am on the weekend and bank holidays. It offers a selection of products such a fruit, fruit juice, pastries, bread, jam, yogurts, hot dishes (eggs, sausages, bacon), meat cuts, tarts, organic food, etc. Like many establishments in the Canary Islands, it also serves the Gofio, a sort of local porridge. Breakfast is served in a large basement room under the entrance hall and has a capacity of around 80 guests. There is also a bar in the entrance hall itself, which stays open from 11:00am to 11:00pm. Furthermore, the Sieteislas provides room service during those opening hours, so you can also enjoy a drink, a snack or some tapas in your room.

    To know

The Sieteislas is a true homage to the Canary Islands: from the names of the rooms, to the decorative elements of the entrance hall. The owners come from Lanzarote, so this all really starts makes sense! Wi-Fi access is free throughout the hotel, or alternatively there is a computer with a free Internet connection available to guests. Baby cots are provided for no extra charge, and children aged 4 or younger can stay here for free. Children aged from 5 to 12 will get a 30% discount. The hotel doesn't have a car park, but an arrangement it has with the nearby Tudescos hotel enables you to park your car in theirs for the day, at a discounted rate. There are rooms for smokers on the third floor, and free newspapers are available in the entrance hall and breakfast room. You may also be interested to know that the Sieteislas works with a trusted taxi company, so you'll be able to avoid that unpleasant surprise when it comes to paying the fare for your ride.
