Disneyland Resort Paris BP 100Marne-la-Vallée, France -See the map

New York, New York! What would you say to going back to the past, and more precisely to the New York of the 1920s and 30s; the New York full of construction sites, with architects competing to build the tallest buildings; the New York of jazz clubs, etc.? In Disney's New York Hotel, guests are literally plunged into this very particular atmosphere.
Everything has been pulled off very well, with the only damper being the rooms and their decor, which are rather basic.

Disney's New York Hotel is in the township of Marne-La-Vallée, east of Paris. To reach it from Paris you just have to take the RER A. Otherwise, there is a TGV train station in Marne-La-Vallée with connections to London, Lille, Strasbourg and even the Roissy Charles-de-Gaulle airport.
Disney's Cheyenne Hotel is located next to Disney Lake, approximately 15 minutes from the Disney parks and their attractions. It is also possible to reach the parks using the free shuttle which stops in front of the hotel.
The guest rooms (575 in total) are a little disappointing compared to the general atmosphere of the hotel. Less thought has been put into their decor and details. The atmosphere of 1930s New York is a lot less present in the guest rooms. They actually feel a bit "cheap" and are lacking in personality. An apple over here tries to serve as a reminder of the Big Apple; a frame with a photo of a skyscraper over there tries, somewhat failingly, to evoke the New York of the 30s; and lighting fixtures in the shape of buildings attempt to convey this extravagant period in American architecture and the Empire State Building. However, none of it is really convincing. Plus, the blue bedspreads with Mickey Mouse on them take away from the theme a little.
The rooms are a little small to accommodate 4 people. Families will quickly feel cramped.
The equally modest-sized bathrooms do have a bathtub, though. The decoration is both both simple and sober.
Just like the other Disneyland Paris hotels, Disney's New York Hotel opened in 1992. You will immediately have gotten that this hotel's theme is the city of New York! Disney chose to recreate the New York of the 1920s/30s. The ambiance in this hotel is retro-chic. The decor leans towards a more sober style with less of the typical Disney elements. From the outside, you can see just how sober the style is, with ochre, grey, and beige-coloured buildings that resemble those of New York.
At the entrance, a yellow New York taxi sets the tone. Once inside, in tribute to the Big Apple you will find apples everywhere; they are just all over the reception.
Moving into the hallways, fans of baseball will happily discover the insignia of New York's various baseball teams, including that of the Yankees, of course. The elevators are reminiscent of those of the Empire State Building. This hotel pays tribute to that great period of New York architecture, when the first skyscrapers were being built, in the 1930s when Art Deco was at its peak.
As in all Disney hotels, there is a video arcade and a space for children to play in (a little small in this hotel).
On the other hand, the swimming pool area is really very pleasant. Beautiful picture windows illuminate the room and look out onto the outdoor swimming pool. As a whole, the architecture brings to mind the 1930s. A huge porthole adds a beautiful Art Deco touch.
For total relaxation, head for the sauna, Turkish bath or whirlpool. Sporty types will opt for the gym.
In winter, there is a skating rink in front of the hotel. You might almost believe you are in Manhattan!
Food and drink
The New York hotel has two restaurants. A complete change of scenery is guaranteed at the Parkside Diner, decorated in the famous American diner style. The room is oval-shaped to create the feeling of a caravan or restaurant-carriage. Pastel colours, black and white checkered floor tiling, yellow neon lights, American-style imitation leather bench seats, drawings on the walls, American-style Formica tables, stainless steel furniture, etc. All of it is still in the Art Deco style. In short, it is the America of the 1920s/30s. Diners can see into the kitchen here. On the menu, a buffet of American specialities for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The hotel's second restaurant is more relaxed and elegant. The Manhattan Restaurant offers a cosy atmosphere with a jazz-based decor. Breakfast is served as a buffet and lunch and dinner are à la carte. The cuisine is international with some Italian influences. The round-shaped room offers a view outdoors thanks to many picture windows, and a terrace makes it possible to eat outside when the weather is nice. As a whole, although the decor was meant to come off as being sober, it has ended up being a bit sad.
For your information, the breakfast served in both restaurants is identical.
To sip on an excellent cocktail or enjoy a quality cognac or whiskey, head for the New York City Bar. With a cosy and subdued atmosphere, it has a mysterious and secret whit about it.
The decor strives to represent the theme of the Roaring Twenties. Musical entertainment is on the programme every Saturday evening.
For those who desire VIP service, become a member of the Empire State Club, which offers a host of extra features including a private reception and a lounge on the first floor for breakfast and snacks.

Disney's Newport Bay Club
Value for money7.13
Stand by to board cabin boys! If you have the soul of an old sea dog, this hotel is for you. The ambiance here exudes regattas, whale hunting and New England resorts. The decoration has been well thought-out and not too flashy. On the other hand, the hotel does have 1,093 guest rooms which means it can be a bit noisy with other guests always milling about. It is a place to avoid, then, if you want some peace and quiet in the evening after a long day in the park.

Disney's Sequoia Lodge
Value for money6.96
The Sequoia Lodge is still our favourite of all of the Disneyland Paris hotels. Its ambiance evoking the national parks of the American West offers visitors a place to relax while enjoying nature. Made of stone and wood, the hotel has been nicely decorated. The best part is the huge fireplace in the middle of the bar. In short, if you're looking for a change of scenery and some nature, the Sequoia Lodge is the hotel for you.

Disney's Davy Crockett Ranch
Value for money6.91
Heads up nature lovers, the Davy Crockett Ranch is aimed at all those wishing to get away from the reality and stresses of everyday life. The bungalows here are scattered about in the forest. It is completely different than the other Disneyland Paris hotels. The only downside is that you need a car if you're going to stay here. In truth, the Davy Crockett Ranch is best for a stay in spring or summer. There is simply a lot less to do in winter. In any case, it is ideal for families with young children.

This hotel will be changing its theme to one in line with Cars, the animated film that children have fallen in love with it. The Santa Fe was designed for families and is ideal for small budgets. You won't find much comfort but you will have everything you need while being close to Disneyland.
