From babies to teenagers, this hotel is an invitation to a good family holiday. Needless to say, it is particularly well equipped. The great choice in sports activities makes it adapted for holidays with teenagers (even fussier ones). To sum up, this is a holiday village with high standards, found in the magnificent setting of Punta Prima and its lighthouse. Couples should be aware that this village has a tendency to quickly resemble an immense school ground. Couples without children are now warned!

    Location 7.75 /10

The club is located in Punta Prima, close to the town of San Luis. Allow at least 20 minutes for transfers to the airport and a few more minutes to get to the town of Mahon. It will take you a good 40 minutes to drive to Ciutadella de Menorca.

    Accommodation 6.70 /10

The accommodation consists of apartments only, all of which are organized into little blocks scattered around the estate. From the reception building to the 'hills' close to the north-side pool, you will have to choose between a beautiful view from the top of the small hill and the economy of a walk up to an apartment. If you reserve a room at the top of the hill, do make sure to request a view of the sea (and not of the surrounding buildings), as it seems only fair to be rewarded for the climb.
The apartments, each consisting of 2 rooms including a kitchen-lounge area and a bedroom, are a reflection of the generous dimensions of the complex: expect a minimum of 35m. The decoration of the bedrooms is rather disappointing however, especially when compared to the services offered. The entirely renovated bathrooms will cheer you up for sure though, thanks to their contemporary style. Bathtubs and showers are both available; it's up to you to decide. How lovely!

    Overview 7.70 /10

The first thing people notice when they arrive at the Club Punta Prima is the amount of available space. You can look around at the buildings without meeting any visual obstacles. The various common areas are divided up into small buildings, and these are scattered about in a sort of English-style park made up of wide green lawns. Although the large capacity of this holiday village is obvious (approximately 1,200 guests in all!), you don't get the feeling of being crowded, except maybe by the pool-side.

The estate stretches out lengthwise on a decisively hilly spot. The second pool is at the top of the hill. It is square-shaped and reserved for adults to swim in (and too deep to walk in), which is definitely a good thing when the main pool is overrun by children. Moreover, the panoramic location of the second pool gives guests a splendid view of the sea and Punta Prima. Next to it, the outdoor bar serves light meals such as salads and hamburgers, etc.

The children's club takes up a large area of the village. It must be said again that this hotel is perfectly adapted to take care of children and their entertainment. The mini-club is divided into 4 parts, depending on age, and all of the activities are organized around small colourful houses surrounded by facilities such as swings and slides.

The Spa and the information desk are also to be found on the higher part of the estate. A private company runs the spa, which is equipped with an indoor pool, and above all, a delightful jacuzzi room. Circular, it is found in the upper part of the small building. Three hydromassage pools face the sea, offering a breathtaking view of Punta Prima! Among the choices are hot water, cold water, and rose petals treatments...

The massive main pool stretches out on the lower part of the estate. Consisting of two levels (but considering the size of it, it could be regarded as two pools) with a small waterfall, there are areas where the water level is low, and even very low, for children and toddlers. With its splendid view of the sea, the pool is the preferred spot of families, where a lot of diving and swimming behind the waterfall takes place - it is more like a large aquatic playground! Here again, a bar serves snacks by the poolside.

We did appreciate the circular spa area, with numerous deckchairs in an atmosphere drenched in sunshine.

    Food and drink 7.45 /10

The main restaurant is located in a separate building facing the pool, languidly stretching along the coast. It matches the gigantic dimension of the bar area, with a few extra square metres. Of course, 1,200 guests have to be fed when the hotel is full! Confirming this hotel's status as a village dedicated to family holidays, the hall is equipped with all the necessary accessories needed for toddlers' meals: high chairs, a mini-buffet, etc. The dishes are presented as a substantial buffet, giving guests plenty of choice: so much so that it almost seems over the top, but at least enables guests to vary their food for each meal, even on a long stay. The dessert table is like a meeting of the worlds of Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland: an impressive range of colours that may put doubts into your head about the origin of some of the ingredients (as in the case of the smurf-blue cake). In short, children are crazy about it but parents can also choose among fresh and varied fruit, ice cream, and pancakes.
The lovely terraced area is one way to escape the dining hall, but it isn't always open. We're not sure why.

Il Faro is an la carte restaurant near the north-side pool. Italian specialities (pizza and pasta of course) are served in a modernly designed room, furnished with just a few tables. Its best asset is the view of the sea from the top of the hill.
br>The lounge bar is located in one of the club's largest common areas, with a capacity that is almost frightening when you imagine it filled with guests: a huge octagon is furnished with lines of armchairs neatly placed side by side. Like a moth attracted to light, all the seats face the somewhat inelegant stage, as if the intention of the staff is to make it compulsory to watch the shows performed by the entertainment staff, who often interact with the mini-club, getting the children to act on stage. What a programme! To get out of listening to children singing, one part of the bar is set up on a mezzanine (which is also where an internet area is at the guests' disposal): definitely quieter.

We did love the huge bay windows making up the octagon shape and creating a space with unique lighting.

    Beach

The public beach of Punta Prima lies in front of the hotel. It is accessible via a small alleyway running down from the lower part of the main pool area.

    To know

The hotel stands next to the Prestige Punta Prima, a hotel that consists of small villas. As the Prestige is part of the same complex, guests staying there may use all the facilities of the club but not vice versa, which is rather unfortunate since the pool at the Prestige is very pretty.

The Prestige is the most luxurious hotel on the Insotel Punta Prima complex. The small villas, displaying great attention to detail, have a direct view of the island's lighthouse and stand in the midst of deep-green lawns. All of the neighbouring Insotel club's amenities (spa, tennis courts, semi-Olympic pool) are available to the Prestige's guests. This hotel is designed more for couples than for families.

An old country house located on inland Minorca, the Morvedra Nou (i.e. the New Morvedra) is an establishment with undeniable charm, located among the olive trees and wilderness of this Mediterranean island. This is a superb hotel, ideally suited for a romantic stay and providing the perfect address for guests who are looking for some nature and relaxation. One would nearly be tempted to keep the place a secret!

A calm, serene and fairly luxurious establishment best-suited to those looking for somewhere peaceful to stay. A destination more geared towards couples, the La Quinta is characterised by its good level of services and rather Colonial decor, with a few modern touches thrown in. If you're looking for somewhere relaxing to stay, a far cry from the noisy entertainment associated with more family-oriented club hotels, then this is just the place for you!
