Right by the eponymous square, on 13th Street and Fourth Avenue, the soon-to-be-open (the vey start of 2013) Hyatt Union Square has a great Downtown location in proximity to some of Manhattan's most celebrated neighbourhoods. As well as the residential Gramercy Park district and both the East Village and NoHo, Greenwich Village, Chelsea and the Meatpacking District are also within walking distance (although you should allow around 20 minutes). Guests here will also be perfectly placed for discovering what is to the north as there are several subway stations very close to the hotel which pass through the areas in which the classic tourist attractions are to be found. JFK is 19 miles away, La Guardia 10 miles and Newark 14.
The hotel's ground floor will feature a American restaurant open throughout the day. The décor will be themed on a barn and will have plenty of natural light and high ceilings. The space will also boast an espresso bar where guests can stay in or take out. At night there will be a South American-themed bar featuring an open kitchen serving both small and large plates. A business centre, spa and fitness room are among some of the hotel's other amenities.
The 178 rooms at the hotel have been conceived by designer Paul Vega and will have custom Hyatt beds, large flatscreen televisions, an iPod-compatible stereo system, wifi access and generous work space. There will be two suites as part of the room inventory and ten of the guestrooms will have private landscaped terraces.
