The Meridien Beach Plaza is at the edge of Monaco and is right to pride itself on being the only hotel in the principality with its own private beach. It is a peaceful establishment with plenty of space, perfectly suited to lounging about and taking a dip in the pool.

Location
5.33/10
You will find the hotel on the road leading out of Monaco towards Italy, at the French border. Located by the sea on the artificial Sporting peninsula, built in the 70's, it is slightly secluded from the throbbing atmosphere of the centre and the bustling port. If you need your daily fix of exercise, you are not far from Sporting Club Monte Carlo, which is famed in the tennis world for its many clay courts. Jimmy'z Night Club is also just a short distance away in the deliciously retro setting of the Sporting Monte Carlo auditorium.
Accommodation
9.70/10
The establishment's 403 guest rooms come in several categories: Classic Standard, with mountain views, Deluxe, with sea views, and Executive... They are spacious, bright, and decorated in a stylish, contemporary fashion. The floors are thickly carpeted and sliding doors let natural light flow in while providing access to the furnished balcony. The rooms facing the sea are fantastic, but those overlooking the mountains and street could do with better soundproofing. The furniture includes a little desk with a chair, and an iron and ironing board are also provided. The modest bathroom contains a bathtub. It is a pity the Internet connection is charged. We preferred the rooms in the glass towers, as the decor is bolder.
Overview
8.45/10
Opened in 1974, the Meridien Beach Plaza was most recently renovated in 2005 when two glass towers were added, visible from the terrace. Inside, the lobby is decorated in a modern style, with the lighting set down to soft, dusky levels. Wood and other natural materials feature in the style, stimulating all your senses, and in particularly your hearing, with the background music all the way to the lift. Continuing in the same vein, the 24-hour bar at the end of this space operates its own 'cafe culture', with free tasting sessions organised daily. The restaurant dining room looks over the fine terrace with its views of the sea and the swimming pool to the left. The surroundings are spacious and very well organised, with deckchairs spread out under the shade of the pine trees. The pool is monitored from 8:00am to 8:00pm. The hotel also has an indoor pool that closes a little later and that has a little gym alongside it. The Cyclope business centre is located next to this.
Food and drink
8.70/10
The ground floor restaurant dining room can seat up to 340 diners. A unique feature of this restaurant, L'Intempo, is that it is open around the clock, serving local and international dishes (salads, fish, etc.) 24 hours a day. The lunch buffet is very good, and there are also à la carte options. Two Thursdays a month, the restaurant organises easy regional cooking classes and wine tasting sessions for clients, which is quite original for a hotel. Pastry making courses are also in the pipeline.
Beach
There is nothing misleading about the Meridien Beach Plaza's name; it is actually the only hotel in the principality with its own private beach. It is a pleasant space monitored by a lifeguard from 8:00am to 8:00pm but the sand is coarse, and its proximity to the neighbouring Sporting Club and the comings and goings of deliveries can make it a bit noisy. Deckchairs and parasols are provided for guests, and there is also a water sports company for anyone keen on trying jet-skiing, sailing, water skiing and other pursuits. The bar is open from 10:00am to 8:00pm.
To know
It is the only hotel in the principality with its own private beach. As if this were not enough, it also has a very beautiful swimming pool.

Hotel bien situé, au bord de mer. Avec sa plage privée.
Trés agréable avec tous le confort (piscine intérieur et extérieur, salle de sport, plage privvée...)
trés bonne accueil
This hotel is best described with adjectives: historical, mythical, magical... It is a cornerstone of the historic and touristic heritage of Monaco and stands proudly in the centre of the Golden Square, opposite the Café de Paris with the Casino to its right.
Another variation on Monaco-style luxury, the Hermitage Hotel stands out for it's Belle Epoque-inspired elegance. White is the dominant colour, as seen in columns and the quiet lounges, but the hotel also boasts some retro-modern touches such as works by Gustave Eiffel and the breathtaking view from the bar and restaurant. Guests of the hotel enjoy access to an exceptional spa, the Thermes Marins de Monte-Carlo.
The Port Palace offers Monaco's own underground living experience, but its classy facilities and terrace overlooking Port Hercule cannot hide the fact that it has been hollowed out of the rock, and is consequently a bit gloomy. The view from the restaurant terrace is unbeatable and is highly popular with thrill-seekers during the Monaco Grand Prix.
Located on the road that leads out of Monaco, this business-oriented hotel has all the amenities of a prestigious resort: a modern interior, spacious rooms, a sea water lagoon, an indoor swimming pool, and a pleasant spa... but not much in the way of privacy.
In the heart of Monte-Carlo, the Metropole hotel boasts superb architectural style and amenities that are beyond reproach: a renowned spa, star-awarded restaurants, high quality service... The charm and refinement of the interior will stay in the mind of any guest who stays here.
In a good location and nicely decorated, this Novotel hotel is well-intentioned but it hasn't managed to avoid certain pitfalls. Budget-wise, the establishment offers an interesting family formula.
If you're after some Riviera-style glamour, the sea-facing Monte-Carlo Beach is definitely the place to be. With its back to a pine forest and its modern interior decorating, this highly intimate hotel is the stuff of dreams. Take note that there is a beach club on the same site as the hotel that offers its beautiful infrastructures, but also its concrete slab, to hotel guests and the general public alike.
The Miramar occupies an ideal position opposite Port Hercule and the rock holding up the Prince of Monaco's palace; it is also a 5 minute walk from the Golden Square and its Casino de Paris. It is a pity that some of the rooms look a bit worn and have been decorated in a hesitant manner, because it is otherwise a cute little boutique hotel boasting a panoramic terrace.

The Fairmont is a huge establishment that was built facing the sea, affording breathtaking views across the waters of Monaco. The hotel is typical of the American-style 'resort' hotel, meaning that everything here has been designed so that guests don't actually need to leave the sometimes maze-like hotel for anything. That being said, the Golden Square is just two minutes away for those who do fancy venturing out.
