Ideally nestling on the Praia Segundo beachfront, a short walk from the village of Morro de Sao Paulo, the Pousada Villa das Pedras offers 25 guest rooms, each with its own terrace and a hammock. A nice place for a holiday, you can enjoy the seaside location and make the most of the village, with its bars and restaurants set alongside the beach. The facilities are limited to a single swimming pool but its modest size contributes to the friendly atmosphere.

    Location 3.99 /10

The establishment is right next to Praia 2 in Morro de Sao Paulo, which is part of Tinhare Island. It is a 20 minute walk away from the boat terminal and a 2 and a half hour crossing from Salvador de Bahia. On top of this is the 30 minute journey from the airport to Salvador de Bahia. If you can afford it, you can make the journey directly in a small plane: there is an airstrip some 7 minutes away from the hotel and the flight to Salvador de Bahia takes only 20 minutes!

    Accommodation 7.70 /10

The 25 guest rooms are not particularly spacious but they have been decorated in an attractive fashion with tiled floors, sky blue walls, and wooden headboards painted with decorative leaves. Their real advantage, however, is the wooden terrace overlooking the garden with its hammock, an item of supreme luxury in tropical countries! There is also a large mirror in which to admire your reflection! As far as the facilities are concerned, there is a satellite television (12 channels), an umbrella (it does come in useful, believe it or not!), a safe with a key (free), individual air conditioning, a telephone, and a mini bar fridge. Room service is available during the day. The bathroom has very much opted for a natural look and features a lot of wood. It is adorned with a pretty painting in shades of blue and is equipped with a large fixed shower head in a cubicle shut off by a sliding glass door, as well as a toilet, magnifying mirror, hair dryer, and hospitality products.

    Overview 7.95 /10

The owner of the pousada is from Sao Paulo, and although the establishment opened in 1995, it is renovated every year, mainly during its annual closure in June. It is made up of 25 bungalows spread out around a little tropical garden, a reception with cannon balls on display (Morro de Sao Paulo was once a hotbed of pirate activity), a bar, a restaurant, and a small swimming pool open from 7:30am to 9:00pm. Everything is set around the swimming pool, which helps foster the friendly feel of the place: a wooden solarium terrace with cushioned deckchairs, white fabric parasols, showers, and not to mention several patches of lawn. Towels are supplied free of charge at reception. As there is no organised entertainment, the setting is peaceful.

    Food and drink 7.45 /10

The restaurant, which can seat up to 40 diners, is in an open-sided straw hut (no air conditioning) facing the sea that serves à la carte Bahian and international dishes. Breakfast is served from 7:45am to 10:30am and is followed by the meals that are served non-stop until 10:00pm. The bar is open from 10:00am to 10:00pm and serves delicious tropical fruit juices as well as an unbeatable caipirinha!

    Beach 7.95 /10

The Pousada Villas das Pedras (rocks) takes its name from the rocks that can be seen from Morro de Sao Paulo's Praia 2, one of the busiest beaches on the island. Sheltered by rocks, it boasts beautifully fine, soft white sand. You can have a go at snorkelling here or try out kite surfing or banana boat rides. The beach is very well equipped with plastic deckchairs and parasols, and given its location next to the village at the foot of the morro (small hill), there are also plenty of bars, restaurants, and shops. The lighthouse can be seen to the left. There are no showers on the beach itself, but you can use the ones by the swimming pool. The hotel beach bar is open from 10:00am to 10:00pm. If you are feeling sporty, you can play beach volleyball.

You can stop looking, we've found paradise and it's here! On the enchanted beach, the praia Encantado, the furthest away from Morro de Sao Paul and totally secluded, it takes a two and a half hour boat crossing from Salvador de Bahia and another hour on dirt tracks to reach this hotel. A beautiful lagoon, charming rooms, an exotic garden that lights up with fireflies at night, delicious dishes you can enjoy right on the seafront, and a swimming pool facing the sea all await you. In short, the Anima Hotel is an exceptional establishment, perfectly suited for a romantic stay!

The Pousada Natureza is owned by a German who fell in love with the island years ago and was one of the first establishments to open on Morro de Sao Paulo, back in 1986. It is located amidst pleasant tropical vegetation on the hillside directly above the landing dock, and offers accommodation in 16 guest rooms, each with a terrace and a hammock. It also has a swimming pool and a bar restaurant.
