Looking at the building from the outside (and the inside for that matter), it is not hard to believe that the Praia Mar was built in 1989, however, the last renovations were carried out in 2009. Once inside, you find yourself in a large reception area with white leather chairs and a bar with tall wicker chairs. The mezzanine and the bay window compensate for the low roof by letting in natural light. At the bottom of the stairs there are several lounges, one with a jewellery shop and another with two computers, and the tapestries on the walls match the chairs. Nevertheless, these spaces seem a bit wasted and the decoration is minimalist. Beside the restaurant on the first floor, there is a small swimming pool surrounded by plastic chairs and a few plants, but the space lacks charm. On the top floor - in addition to two open air Jacuzzis (with beautiful views but not enough space to make the Jacuzzi a relaxing experience) installed among little tables - there is a games room with foosball, billiards, table tennis, and several yellow leather chairs on a wooden deck under a canopy. On the other side of Rua Francisco Gurgel, there is another pool with a slide for children and a bar next to the beach.
Located on the eastern tip of Brazil, Ponta Negra is an ideal location for kite surfing or sailing due to the wind that normally blows all year round.
