On the outskirts of Hisaronu, the "five-star" Green Forest Hotel is, as its name suggests, on the edge of a thick, green forest. Its unique setting means you'll feel immersed in nature, even if the bars and clubs of Hisaronu are a 5-10 minute walk away. If you're a beach bum, you'll be disappointed to learn that Green Forest is not within walking distance to the seaside. However, whether you're holidaying as a couple, with friends or with family, you'll surely appreciate the friendly and relaxed ambiance at the hotel.

    Location 6.32 /10

On the road linking Kaya Koyu and Hisaronu, the Green Forest Hotel is only 200m from the centre of the latter. The hotel is 5 miles away from Fethiye city centre and 35 miles from Dalaman Airport.

    Accommodation 6.95 /10

Of the 171 rooms at Green Forest, 167 are standard rooms, the remainder are suites. All rooms have pool and/or garden views. Standard rooms are simple but clean with small furnished balconies. The bright orange floral linens printed with the hotel's name are a bit too much but at least you won't forget where you are...! You better not have an aversion to the colour orange as the furnishings and trimmings are all in this colour too. The suites meanwhile contain a spacious living area with sofa bed in addition to the master room, the latter with direct access to the bathroom. Decorated in the same style, the suites boast not one but two balconies as well as a spacious bathroom with shower and Jacuzzi bathtub. Interconnecting rooms are also available.

    Overview 8.20 /10

The hotel's lobby doesn't give any hint to how large the resort is, so you may be surprised when you emerge from the other side to spacious grounds dotted with neat flower beds. From almost any corner of the resort you have a great view of the forest but also the nearby mountains which are quite impressive. The absence of neighbouring buildings makes you feel like you're lost in the forest, even if in reality you're two minutes from the village.

Accommodation is contained in two storey buildings with pale green façades finished off with wrought iron balconies furnished with bright orange chairs. At the heart of the resort is a large, free-form pool fringed with palm trees, and other facilities such as a mini amphitheatre, spa centre, mini market and snack bar. The fun and friendly animation team creates a great ambiance by involving everybody during the daily activities.

Where the resort meets the forest guests will find a tennis court, volleyball court, table tennis, table football and an outdoor fitness area. There is also an indoor fitness area (a traditional gym) but it was not well-maintained and needs to be updated and tidied up. A few steps away there is a great little kids' club with an activity room and small outdoor playground. Actually in the midst of the forest are several hammocks suspended between the pines - this is a tranquil spot to escape the poolside animation. Meanwhile the health and wellbeing facilities comprise a basic spa with Turkish bath, sauna, hairdresser and three massage rooms.

    Food and drink 8.45 /10

Green Forest operates an all inclusive meal plan with food and drink available throughout most of the day (besides the main meals: late breakfast, afternoon tea, ice cream hour, night soup...). The spacious main restaurant features both indoor and outdoor seating; the latter is on a terrace which offers views of the surrounding forest and mountains. The look is simple and modern; pine tables laid with crisp white tablecloths are decorated with red and white gerberas. The buffet stations are found in a separate room to the dining areas. There are also two à la carte restaurants serving fish and Turkish cuisine, while drinking can be done in any of the three bars on-site (one of which has an 'English pub' atmosphere complete with pool tables). The Turkish restaurant is located on the ground floor of the same building and decorated with oriental carpets, cherry table cloths and glitzy curtains. The fish restaurant meanwhile resembles the inside of a boat with wood panelled walls and porthole-like windows. For light meals there is a snack bar and patisserie by the pool, try the Turkish gozleme!

Green Forest's location on the outskirts of Hisaronu means that the beach is not accessible on foot. The hotel therefore provides a twice-daily complimentary shuttle to a private beach at Olu Deniz. Instead of 12TL (£4.60) for 2 sun beds and a parasol, Green Forest guests pay a preferential rate of 6TL (£2.30). To get to the public beach at Belcekiz, the dolmus bus stop is 500m from the hotel.
