The interior of La Sommitą, a classy establishment tucked away in Ostuni's maze-like streets, is as white as the "white city" itself, and thanks to its partnership with Culti, it bathes in a refined atmosphere combined with a certain modern elegance.

    Location 8.0 /10

La Sommitą is located in the historical heart of Ostuni, a neighbourhood usually closed to traffic. The hotel staff therefore come to collect guests at the Piaggio Ape and carry their luggage to the hotel.

The hotel is located around 25 mi from Brindisi airport, and around 60 mi from Bari airport.

    Accommodation 9.20 /10

The guest rooms boast the same elegance found in the rest of the hotel. They are decorated tastefully and boast refined, delicate colours and high-quality materials.

Each of the 13 rooms and suites were given their name according to the unique characteristics that define each one: for example, the deluxe 'Affresco' room was named after the ancient fresco that adorns its walls, the 'Il Camino' suite is a reference to the fireplace in the lounge area, and the 'Le Volte' suite evokes its original stone ceiling.

Each room has its own specificities and unique charm. Some of the suites are built on two levels, with one floor occupied by the sitting room and another by the mezzanine bedroom. In some of the deluxe rooms, the bed is set right in the centre of the room, creating a layout that defies all convention. In the bathrooms too, everything has been carefully thought out: they are either fitted with a shower, a bathtub, or even a bathtub with hydromassage jets, and in some cases these are set against a lovely stone wall. The hospitality products provided are of the Culti brand, as are the fabrics and materials used to decorate the guest rooms.

    Overview 8.70 /10

Located in the white town of Ostuni, La Sommitą features ancient vaulted ceilings and a Spanish-style garden that bathes in this same pure whiteness, boasting a mixture of refined luxury and a cosy and cheerful atmosphere that really makes you want to soak up this nature. The hotel opened around ten years ago and occupies an ancient 16th-century aristocratic residence and an even older building that dates from the 13th Century. The hotel's entrance is reached through the maze of small streets that is the historic centre of Ostuni, and itself features lot of little stairways and terraces with views of the countryside and blue sky of the Apulia region through the openings in the white walls.

This historical building has retained its former dimensions and features, but its interior is both sophisticated and modern. The decor here was designed by Culti, a Milan-based design company that has worked in the hotel industry for many years and has managed to create its own unmistakable style. The idea here is that Culti are allowed to work in every area of the hotel and are in charge of all the interior decorating: they're free to do what they want, from the choice of sofas and bedding to the selection of wardrobes and table cloths. Only high-quality, natural materials have been used and everything oozes class, creating an elegant and light setting that can be enjoyed from one of the comfy sofas, cushions or deckchairs, or in the relaxing spa.

    Food and drink 8.20 /10

With views of the garden outside, the restaurant is an intimate space with a stone vaulted ceiling, decorated in the same vein as the rest of the establishment in a style chosen by Culti, the architects who were in charge of decorating the entire hotel. Simple wooden tables, chairs with light-coloured linen upholstering, and carefully thought-out lighting combine to create a modern and elegant atmosphere, paying particular attention to the use of high-quality materials.

For breakfast, guests generally gather around the central buffet table and have the choice between a selection of home-made pastries, fruit, bread and jam. The hotel doesn't offer the half-board formula and, in the evening, dinner is always served ą la carte, from a menu including many fish-based and local specialties. Only the freshest products are used to prepare your meal, and the fish is caught the very same day, which means the menu can change slightly from one day to the next.

    To know

During the high season and on weekends, the clientele of the Sommitą is primarily made up of Italians, who make way for foreign tourists during the low season.
