The Flowers of Paradise is a small, unpretentious hotel. Situated in a little street in the village of Pereybere, it is not on the seafront but rather faces apartment buildings. Due to its curbside location, the noise from the traffic can be heard in the communal areas and by the swimming pool in particular. On the other hand, the street is not that busy. The clientčle largely consists of holidaymakers from Reunion Island, Mauritius and some from mainland France. The Flowers of Paradise looks more like a small apartment block than an actual hotel. People come here for holidays in a relaxed atmosphere and shouldn't expect much more.

    Location 8.47 /10

The Flowers of Paradise is located in the small village of Pereybere, just 2 miles from Grande Baie. Transfers from the airport (43 miles away) take around 1h 30m, while the capital, Port Louis, is 16 miles from the hotel.

    Accommodation 5.70 /10

There are 18 guest rooms in the hotel's one building. Both single and double rooms are available, with some of them communicating. The rooms are nicely arranged but there is little in the way of decor. The four-poster beds do add a bit of charm, though, and the gentle tones brighten up the space. The rooms on the 1st floor have a communal terrace facing the street. As for the bathrooms, they aren't exactly big, with the toilet, shower and wash basin all practically touching. In terms of amenities, there is a noticeable lack of television and telephone in the rooms, but they do have air-conditioning and a refrigerator.

    Overview 5.70 /10

The Flowers of Paradise took over the Fred Hotel in 2011, and although the facilities remain the same, a lot of work has been done. Nowadays, the hotel is easily spotted from a distance thanks to its bright orange walls. You won't find a long palm tree-lined path at the Flowers; no, here guests arrive right at the heart of the hotel as soon as they step through the gate. Everything is located the same place, with reception consisting of a small desk in the middle of the dining room. You just need to take a few steps to the left to reach the swimming pool, which pool isn't very large, but is still worth having. On the other hand, it is hard to imagine all the guests sitting around the pool at the same time, as there is so little space. Behind the pool is a small garden where the washing is hung to dry...

    Food and drink 5.95 /10

The only restaurant at the Flowers of Paradise is found at the hotel entrance. It has both an interior and exterior dining area, furnished with several small, 4-person tables. To avoid the heat of the sun, the tables on the terrace are shaded by large parasols. Open to the public, this ŕ la carte restaurant is open for service at every meal. The international cuisine is prepared by a French chef, and a Mauritian-themed night is held once a week. The barbecue is regularly used, and background music plays from a small radio throughout the day.
